Dreaming is incredibly interesting. Everyone has different experience with dreams, but I can say that once I started reading into dreams and keeping a journal of them, my ability to recall dreams skyrocketed from one dream per month to almost one every week and then to a few each week. Keeping a journal of each dream you recall right after you wake up helps tremendously in recalling dreams, as does reading about the subject. I think from there, your mind knows more what to look for, and it becomes a little easier to delve into.
Sleepwalking!? You might actually be onto something there. I've never had any sleepwalking experiences ever, but this really has my attention. I'm so Googling more into this after this post

And yeah, I really ought to keep a dream journal of sorts. All of my dreams are the most absurdly random things, I'd love it if I could remember them long enough to laugh at them later

So, I wish I had started logging dreams Tonchiki. Although, there is one dream I had at a young age that I still remember very...thoroughly.

So, I'm riding in my van with my family, I'm in the back seat, and the only person in the back seat. I turn around to look out the back window and laid my eyes upon a slightly balding man with glasses who, for some reason, instilled fear into me. And for good reason, a few seconds later I lost the ability to speak and to breath. As I attempted to scream out in a futile attempt at informing my family (in hopes they could save me) I found myself waking up.

EDIT: And for some reason, I knew it was his doing.

Right, so this was because Forte says he doesn't like himself. I want him to like himself a bit more.

I almost never sleepwalk either, but I've had the odd experience or two where I have. I imagine it happens to most people at some point, just to some more than others.

It is quite entertaining. I usually just keep a notebook under my bed to quickly jot down the important details when I wake up-- it's important you don't move much when you first wake up, or you'll quickly forget details or even the entire dream-- and then later I write the whole thing on my computer, as the quick notes are usually enough to remember the whole thing.

I don't know if it'll work for everyone, but as soon as I read a little more about lucid dreaming and started keeping a dream journal, it suddenly became much easier to remember them...

Hmm... Don't really know what to say about that one. I did read that losing abilities like that are fairly common to people sometimes...

I think I might just try that dream journal bit. I would love to remember or even control my dreams.

Re: Dreams

Okay, here goes. I go to bed, thinking about the land before time.

[Now I'm in the dream] I'm with two others (in a large cave), we both have some manner of rifles. I hear a voice much like Daedalus (optimus prime sounds kinda the same) talking to us. I look up, and he's a really weird lookin', ET headed brontosaurus with tentacles on its back. Then, Three space pirate-like beings run in and start firing lasers at us, adn one of the people with me (a guy) gets shot in the arm. I shake my head.

The daedalus guy Vcensored for gore

then gets the same guy with one of his tentacles, right through the gut. I feel splatter on me for real.

I now know that I'm dreaming. So I'm scared #$%^less and I'm wishing that the dream ends well. That's when the other person I'm with (a girl) kills the space pirates. Wew, that was good, right? Well n ow, the Daedalus thing tries to kill me and I shoot him in the eye. He drops something, and then the cave starts flooding and there's giant alligator-like dinosaurs swimming in. Like, ten foot wide, fifty foot tall ones. They get the girl, and I start to feel a sharp pain in my arm. I say "stop" in my head and I wake up. Weird, I know.
I woke up, and my arm killed but I wasn't sleeping on it or anything. But I stopped the dream, like I have countless times before, but only when they're bad ones.

Now, I also have these weird daydreams and normal dreams where I see things for like, two seconds (in first person view, I can hear and everything). Soponer or later, I'll be in the same environment, and I'll look around. I then see what appeared in these visions. They're always very specific, and it's a;ways dead-on when these things happen.

So, am I psychic or something?

Re: Dreams

I should mention, if anyone's interested, one site that seems to get a fair amount of activity is LD4all. I haven't bothered registering in the forums there, but I usually just read about things other people are doing-- how they remember dreams easier, how they try to get themselves lucid... There are a variety of techniques you can try. It's quite fascinating.

Whether something is frightening and you want it to end, or you want to confront some inner fear to get over a real-life fear, people report success when doing so in lucid dreams.

No idea on that one. That sounds almost like deja vu. Except... in reverse, I guess.

It is the TRUE sixth sense!!! I've had that happen to me too, though in the form of hearing something, responding, and discovering the person hadn't said it yet, but were getting ready too. It's very strange...

Re: Dreams

Honestly

The first dream I recall experiencing actually occured while I was "awake"

Soon after awaking from the dream I could not remember the dream
When I experienced the dream while "awake" the memory returned to me

I notice now the feeling while experiencing the dream was different from the feeling during the "awake" experience
I felt pleasant during the dream experience
I felt not so pleasant during the "awake" experience
I was also more aware during the "awake" experience
The occurance and realization during the "awake" experience also boosted my awareness of the situation very much

Experiencing the occurance caused me to have different thoughts about dreams and "awake"

I was just about to post a link there... get out of my head! But here's another site that I've found helpful. Dream Views

That's happened to me several times, actually.

Another thing that's happened to me recently is jamais vu, kinda the opposite of deja vu. I'm somewhere I really should recognize(a street a block away from my house), but I don't recognize it at all. It feels just like you're dreaming, but you're awake. It's really weird.

Allow me to add one more to the bunch: Lucidipedia
Forums don't seem as active, though.

That sounds mildly familiar to me, but since I can't definitively say, I imagine it's just my mind messing with me.

Yeah, I've had some strange, lucid dreams. I'm not sharing them, because then I would be viewed as a bigger freak than I already am.

I'd bet money that most people are probably like that in their dreams.

@nintendo6: He's a very eccentric character. Always asking the main character things like that. "Do you want to know the truth?"

My favourite anime character. Of all time. Especially after the plot twist in G.U. volume 2.

...yeah... speaks in riddles. Much like the first post you made. Which is why I compared the two of ya.

When I was little I used to be able to wake myself up from a dream by imagining my real body sitting up in bed, which must have had something to do with self control for me to know I wasnt in my real body. But ive never been able to lucid dream. I want to, but I cant and dont know how.
