Eh? I say keep it stock, keep it PRACTICAL. If gas goes back up, or even if it stays where it's at, you'll never be able to move that car anywhere. A freaking couple with hummer mileage is just not right, even if the engine is so sweet that socks can't be worn within earshot of it.

Besides, the Boss are only well... cool in the Boss mustangs. But then again, if you can do it, why not.

Apparently the new ZR1s have a meter that shows PSI pressure and ****ing LATERAL Gs. If that's not garish and snobbish, then I don't know what is. And I thought Mercedes drivers were pricks...

My dream vehicle would either be an old VW Bus or a Pontiac Solstice. The VW bus would be amazing.

The solstice is quite the lovely thing on the outside, but terrible on the inside. Everything is so out of reach.

Re: What Is Your Dream Car?

Since I have lots of family that work in the auto industry (and the economy here is pretty going down the crapper already) I'd practically get disowned or even thinking about wanting a foreign car! Haha.

I love the new Ford Thunderbirds. They don't make them anymore, but I am a sucker for retro looking cars.
Also, the 2010 Taurus is one swanky looking vehicle! (I can't believe I'm saying this about a Taurus, but they are one hot set of wheels.)

Re: What Is Your Dream Car?

I recently purchased one of my dream cars - a 2001 Audi TT Coupe, the 225 Quattro 6-spd, in denim blue pearl. It's bone stock at the moment but I have plans for it. If only money weren't an issue! Besides getting it chipped, I'd like to install a Bilstein PSS9 coil-over kit and I'm on the fence about aesthetic work - I have a full Reiger body kit and Audi S8 grille ready to go on. The Fat 5s stay, though. Anyone who would put aftermarket wheels on my car is crazy.

Picture of my timeless beauty can be found here. =)

The other automobiles I dream of owning include Audi's R8, Volkswagen's Phaeton (directly from the Transparent Factory of course), Maserati's Gran Turismo, Bugatti's Veyron (the fastest production vehicle in the world is worth the one and a quarter million right?), and a multitude of others.

In general - I'll apologize in advance to anyone who I may offend - I'd have to say that I think American cars are crap. Terrible build quality, cheeseball interiors, archaic drivetrains and suspension designs, and no resale value once you drive them off the lot. That, in my opinion, equals crap. =S

At least you'd be helping the economy by buying American

and I've never had any of these issues with what you said. my family has owned cars in the past that have lasted well over ten years, while my friend's 6 year-old Corolla had to go in the shop almost on a monthly basis (it's dead for good now). so yeah, I do highly disagree with you, but it's all a matter of opinion

You'll be helping the economy no matter what make of car you buy - just because it's imported does not mean otherwise.

Ten years is not a long time for a car! Especially if you purhcased it brand new. Besides the TT, I also own a 1988 Volkswagen Golf that is still running strong - it has developed a bit of gear clash, but that's to be expected with over 350,000 miles on the odometer. My Dad owns three Audis with ages ranging from 10 years to 20 years old, with combined mileage of over 1,500,000. He recently told me that he had a newer Jetta TDI (no more than a few years old) in his shop with almost 500,000 miles on it that has never required any engine or transmission work. Now that is impressive.

But I wasn't necessarily implying that domestic autos break down or require a lot of repairs. The build quality is terrible - I see missing screws, half-ass welds, etc. on brand new cars and trucks (I work at a GM franchised car dealership). As for the rest, they are just years behind their German counterparts.

I am not a fan of Japanese autos. Epecially the invasion of Honda's unshapely pod cars. Ugh! There are a few I consider admirable, like the Z series Nissans. Not a very good looking car to me, but it's a good performer.

.
It's more or less a matter of my family and friends keeping their jobs. I have family and neighbors who work for the Big 3 that have lost their jobs recently. It's really rough around here. Heck, my own father comes home from work quite often telling us that they layed more people off! It's beginning to get really scary for us.

But I do understand and respect your opinion. (I personally prefer German cars over Japanese any day of the week!)
As much as I would love to be cruising down the road in a VW Rabbit or a shiny Mercedes, it's out of these question for me at the time.

Cars are cars, and as long as they get us to where we need to go, it's all good
