I would say very few people "need" these things, it's simply a psychological dependency. You can be sustained by parents and hang out with people you call "friends" without having any particular love or like of these people.

That level of neediness would put me off. Although "put out or get out" might yield some results in that case. Or a Harley Quinn/Joker-esque abusive relationship.
