^ Perhaps they're just being a bit
too general with their accents? But there certainly isn't just one accent, not even one English accent, taking in to account the differences between northern England and southern, and even more localized accents such as those from Liverpool, Yorkshire, Birmingham (yay!) and London. I can imagine that most users from outside the UK will just imagine the stereotypical "posh" accent when people say they have a British one. More specifics needed, please!
As for myself, I think I've got a little bit of a mish-mash of English accents. Being a midlander, I don't possess that really well spoken tone associated with the south, but neither do I have that infectious charm of northerners. I live around a rural area currently, where the local accent is often described as being that typical "farmer" type, so people do pick up that I’m not a local chap. If anything, I’d lean towards a more southern accent, due to my constant bickering with my friend over the pronunciation of words like “grass”, and “path” and “bath”, etc, because I add an invisible “R” in to each word.
:/
I'll see if I can't get access to a mic at some point and share with you guys.
