I think many people like Regan as he helped to end the Cold War and was pretty successful in foreign policy.

What about the undefeatable William Henry Harrison and his grandson (who also became president), Benjamen Harrison? I am realted to both.

JFK and Abe. Even though a Canadian and have no care whatsoever, those two stand out as good candidates.

I thought extreme conservatism started up when W took hold in office. I mean, there were the drug czars and such under Regan, but I wouldn't say he helped to restart conservatism, only sped it up.

Ever wonder why all the Republican primary candidates claimed that they were the best suited to continue Reagan's policies?

Because they all want to try and be like Regan, only they epically fail at it. Case in point, our current presidency.

Due to political pressure. He had a slave himself, and was indifferent in the issue of freeing slaves. He probably would have kept slavery intact if it wasn't for the public outrage.
