Is there a such thing as a Glasses person?

The title may be a bit confusing so let me explain.
Have you ever known someone who has worn glasses for years but then suddenly switches to contacts? Sometimes they look alright but alot of the time they just look plain weird.
Of course there's a flip-side to this if someone starts wearing glasses all of a sudden.

Well anyway, do some people have a distinct facial structure or a particular feature that glasses complement? Or are we just simply used to seeing a person a particualr way?

Kind of a random thread, I know. But my friend who's worn glasses all his life got contacts today. He just looks so different now.

As for me, I love my glasses and would never switch over to contacts. If by some miracle I got perfect vision over night I'd probably want to wear fake ones.

I think it just takes some getting used to, especially if someone you know has been wearing glasses/contacts for the longest time suddenly switches to the other.

I personally wear contacts much more often than I wear glasses. People tell me that I look better with glasses on though. After wearing glasses for the first time in quite a while today, I'm beginning to think it's true. Comparison.

Re: Is there a such thing as a Glasses person?

I tried out contacts years ago, and didn't really get many comments on them, but it was only for about six months.

Recently, since my eyesight has stopped getting worse and is staying about the same, I've started thinking about getting the laser surgery, but when I've brought it up my friends have protested that I look better with glasses.

I think it really just happens to be that they are used to seeing me with them, and that they've only seen me with them (I've had them since I was like nine). I know that one of my friends switched to contacts after high school, and for awhile it was weird, but after a few weeks it was if he had never had glasses.

It's your brain and what it's used to. Your brain automaticly sees this person for a long time, and the lense inhances part of there face. And when they take it off, it's like Woah, No More inhancing. o.o

Like others have said, you're just used to seeing that person with glasses. That said... some people look great with glasses.

Like me?

I know that the brain becomee accustomed to seeing certain things, but some people just... I don't know, pull it off.

And me telling everyone about my friend wasn't really why I made the thread, I know why he looked weird. I was just saying what made me think to make the thread.

Re: Is there a such thing as a Glasses person?

I tend to think I look better without glasses, but that's probably mostly because they're (1) glare-y, (2) thick-rimmed. Of course, I also think I look better in thick-rimmed glasses than other glasses, and pretty much am stuck with them unless I can get Lasik (contacts were pretty squirrely - as in they didn't want to stay in my eye).

My fiancée disagrees, and thinks I look better with my glasses.

But I think one of the biggest factors for how glasses look is how well a person's fashion style complements them. Probably, at least.

I absolutely despise glasses, even though I wear them.
I want contacts so badly...but I'd have to get them on my own, considering how many pairs of glasses I've lost.

same here. I like the way I look with glasses. I don't think I look like myself without them. on the other hand, sometime I take them off in pictures... weird... I just realized that's kinds contradictory!

Re: Is there a such thing as a Glasses person?

I'm pretty sure it's just the difference that is disorienting. I mean, I know several people that have switched, resulting in me going, 'woah' whenever I see them. It's a pretty drastic change on someone's face from going to having glasses on their face to nothing.

As for myself, I spontaneously wear contacts for months, then spontaneously wear glasses for months. So, I'm always throwing my friends off.
Generally, most agree I look better without my glasses though. Mostly because when I wear glasses, I still squint half the time.

Personally, I prefer my glasses, but I've broken them four times in the past year. ;;>>
