Horses.
They're way too big, and unpredictable. I'm still not exactly a fan. They're nice to look at and all, but I'm not fond of being around them.

Re: What scared you as a child?
I don't think I was scared of very much as a child, but there were some things that were just creepy, such as getting scared after watching specific movies. I think Critters was one that frightened me as a child, as well as the Candyman. My brother would put me into the bathroom and turn off the light, then wouldn't let me out until I said candyman to the mirror five times. Sleeping Beauty scared me also, when Maleficent came out of the fireplace. I did not like to be 'exposed' at night, so I'd huddle underneath the covers as they would always serve as protection. Kinda like what Life mentioned earlier, heh. :p
Oh, and I just remembered what else I hated as a child also. My dad got me this big talking doll for my... 4th birthday or so, and she had these blonde curls and big blue eyes, but also these weird buckteeth too. I did not like her one bit and refused to play with her at all. However, my brother had other ideas. What he used to do when it was getting dark, he'd wait until I was going upstairs for a bath/toilet/bed, then dangle the talking doll down above my head in the dark, on a piece of twine string and let it squeal. I swear that made me into the twisted individual that I am today.

Re: What scared you as a child?
Is it pathetic that I was scared of the final Bowser battle in Super Mario 3 as a kid?
![]() Also, roller coasters (well, riding in one at any rate). Oh, and being barefoot was an irrational fear--I had to have shoes and socks on at every conceivable moment when I was a kid (even at home), or I just felt terribly weird, like I was naked without them on. You can imagine the difficulty this caused with the fact that we lived a block away from the beach back then. And I slept with socks on too (though not shoes of course). Ironically, I'm of just the opposite mindset today--I go barefoot as much as possible now. ![]() Quote:

Re: What scared you as a child?
I had just gotten over being scared of the dark when I was in 8th grade, so that.

Re: What scared you as a child?
I used to get scared going up the steps, like there were zombies or ghosts reaching for me behind my back, so I'd run up the steps as fast as I could. I admit I still do this when emerging from the basement...
I also used to have a big Alf plush toy (remember Alf?) and I liked him during the day but he looked wicked at night in the dark, so I'd throw him in the waaaay back corner of my closet. oh- the closet... my closet as a child was the kind with 2 sliding doors. the handles were brass circles, and at night they shined and looked like eyes... it was a bit scary. And the WORST fear: I used to be afraid of the ice cream man! yes, the guy who drives the ice cream truck!!! My mom told me when I was about 3 that the ice cream man was a bad man who kidnapped kids. I suppose she told me this so I wouldn't bug her for ice cream every time the jingley tune came floating down the street. unfortunately, this affected me kinda bad. evey time I was playing outside with my friends and heard the truck coming, I'd freak out and run screaming into my house. the other kids though I was nuts. after this happened a couple times, my mom had to come out and tell me the truth!

Re: What scared you as a child?
I didn't like the thought of being left somewhere. It still bothers me if I'm planning on someone picking me up somewhere, and they wind up being late. The later they are the more worried I get.
I remember one time I was at a place at my hometown. I got bored, and started looking for my mom, but I couldn't find her. I went to the parking lot, and couldn't find the vehicle because I was looking in the wrong area. I got scared and walked home, but no one was there either. Then I remember going to my room and crying on my bed. I think that's the most vivid memory of childhood fear for me. Turns out I didn't look hard enough for my mom, because she was still there. She eventually came home after looking for me, though. Happy ending. |
