I feel your pain, I've always wanted to be a film director too. I would recommend trying to get into an acclaimed film school like New York or USC (George Lucas' alma mater), so keep your grades up. Try to watch as many movies as you can, good and bad. The good will tell you what do to, while the bad will tell you what not to do...

Try not to just watch them, but criticize them, after watching the film in question ask yourself "what, if anything, would I do different to make this flick better?". If you wanna go the extra mile, go Roger Ebert on it's butt and write a review for the movie, I do. That will help you to write better scripts and, in turn, better movies.

Take some classes in photography, or graphic arts. Doing so will help you when it comes to filming itself, and properly using back ground, fore ground, color contast, ect. I mean, really, what are movies other than moving pictures with dialouge and actors? Oh, yeah, and acting classes couldn't hurt.

Don't emulate, innovate (gee, isn't that catchy?). Try to come up with an idea that is completely different from anything out on the movie market today, and write it down. Or, at the very least, try coming up with a different filming style. Try experimenting at home with a camera, use odd angles, bright or dull colors, still and moving shots to name a few. Mix 'em up and see what works.

And, above all else, DON'T GIVE UP!

I choked on three-year-old Red Hots laughing at this post. The one from not, not from the past.

Some of our old posts eh? Well I can't think of any specific posts, but how about old threads (I suppose the introduction post counts, right?)? For one reason or another, I always liked these threads:

If Zelda Universe was real...: I just had the idea of bringing the whole community together to express what they'd want to do, and who'd they want to meet. It slowly turned into a "Who in ZU would you want to meet", but there were some small interesting discussions in there too.

The Doctor is In: Ah! This was the first thread I created about my dream analyzing skills. As long as the dreams are detailed, I can analyze what that may mean for your life. I took a lot of time and effort for each dream, and it's still one of my favorite threads to date (I've been thinking about making another one, but I don't have that much time in my hands).

Tale of Three ZUers & One Beantown (ok, technically James started that thread, but all three of us were a part of it): Chatting online can be fun, but to actually hang out with some people from the site is even better. Expect a similar thread after James, CC, and I return from the Boston Meet up.

Kazan and cap, you are very wrong about Bush. The cartoons have a message and are very liberal. Maybe too liberal for any conservatives like you who DON'T think before they talk. The war in Iraq is a prime example of our already-faling job of a president and his polices. Maybe they don't matter to you as you guys look pretty middle class to me and I am low class so I am feeling the hard times of the econmy while you guys aren't as you are getting HUGE tax breaks. And plus, I also read the news and I think I would know just how stupid, arrogrant, and conservative he is being. I don't know if this has been posted before but anways, what do you think ZU.net will be like when we are all grown up and can't really run the site? Would there be a whole new generation to replace us? Would this site even be here?If you want my opinion, I think the site will be here and will be run by our descendents. anybody wanna play zu court:

Here it is, my first interactive story! The plot is that a ZU member is on trial for certain things that I will discuss in the story. I need people to play as the jury, the suspect, the defender...you know, the people in a U.S court case! I myself will play the judge. The suspect needs to be made up and someone needs to play this suspect. Well sign up your characters here and when I'm ready, I will tell the story.

I remember the forums got wiped out by some hackers or something. People attacked ZU a few times back then. I'm pretty sure thats why the records only go back to 2003. We all had to start out post count over, I remember that.
