Yeah 7 children. 1 died at birth, so he burned it. 3 he kept with the girl in captivity, and the other three, he put in baskets outside of his house, rang the bell, and ran to the other side. His wife would open it up find the child with a raise me card on it.

If you ask me the wife is dumb as all hell.

She got tricked by being forced to go off onto some trip, giving the husband time to build the captivity room. He also forced his daughter to write a going away note.

Ironically, what got him caught was when one of the kids he was raising got sick and brought to the hospital, they found out about the direct relation between him and Joesph.

Yeah, my social studies teacher talked to my class about it the other day. Apparently as she told us from what she learned, the woman's father started molesting her when she about 11 or so and made her write a letter to her mother that said she ran away. I think it's horrible and it makes me wonder what those type of people are thinking. I also heard the guy got 15 years in prison or such. Personally, I think he should get the death penalty.

Absolutely horrific. I heard about it a few days ago while driving to the mosque with my dad. I just read the story, and I really have to wonder, why the girl being confined didn't escape? I mean, honestly, If I was locked in a cellar and was given the resources, I would get out at any means necisary. If she was down there for 23 years, odds are she could have found a way out. When the father came down to rape her, she could have killed him. there was a TV down there, she could have broken the screen and stabbed him to death with one of the glass shards. I really find this unbelievable. I can't even imagine this to be true after thinking it over. I just didn't think such evil could exist (well I suppose that's not true, adolf hitler was one ***** of a mother ****er too)

I think a fitting punishment would be to pull all of his fingernails off, one by one. Then using a cheeze gratter, grate majority of his skin off, then have him showed in alchohol! Holy crap it hurts just thinking about it!

As Rhalen said, he deserves worse than this.

Words cannot express my anger right now. This man is a despicable, sick, loathsome excuse for a human being. There is no punishment that is too harsh for him. If he doesn't get the death penalty then there is no justice in the world.

Sitting here and now its easy to say how we might escape, but you have to take in consideration of her mental state. She was probably lost the will to live, i mean wouldnt you? Also consider that the man could easily use her children against him, something tells me he could kill one of them with out a second thought.

Just because we can sit here and discuss what we might have done in the position, doesnt mean it is going to be that easy.

In my eyes, he's scum. In his eyes, he's probably a saint. But why revenge? Yes, he's a terrible man but killing him isn't exactly fair. Torture isn't fair or humane either. If a man murders another, then what's the point in killing him? That's not only stooping to his level, but taking a man's life which is what we're against. And I don't think any man is justified in making such a decision. Also, please don't say that we do it so that he won't, so that he can't kill any more people. I understand this, yet it's still not fair. What gives any man the right to kill? One wrong to prevent more? It's still wrong, though I know we do it with good intentions. It's a never-ending loop that I'm not proud to be a part of.

Yeah. I agree with both of those. But I think almost anyone feels bitter after hearing things like this, and we won't be able to change it either.
