And wouldn't you know it, I just thought of a shape that could have prevented that. Ah well; the question still requires the correct reasoning, and there are plenty of rectangular shapes that do not meet the criteria I set up for it.

The one on the right because...it is not a complete shape.
Explanation: On the rectangle on the left the part that sticks out fills the part the sticks in, same with the one in the middle.

(There's probly an easier way to put that, I just can't think of it)

That's logically equivalent to the original formulation of the answer, so yes, you get credit for it.

Or it's the only "full" shape if you cut the top puzzle thing and put it into the hole.
