Re: Risk
It is the best board game ever :]
I think my finest moment was when I played my brother and at the end of the game, he held all of australia...and nothing else. So of course I put 114 troups in Siam.

Re: Risk
I have only played Risk three or four times in my life, and not one of those games was finished, so my opinion is a bit skewed in that regard.
At any rate, from what I have experienced, I can say that it's fun in the beginning, but once you get to a certain point, the winner is pretty much decided, and the game gets incredibly boring. It's like tic-tac-toe, except infinitely more drawn out. As a result, I've never played long enough for anyone to have a miraculous comeback. Perhaps if I can ever stand to play all the way through to the endgame, I'll see what all the excitement is about.

Re: Risk
Oh, yes....
I remember the six hour-long slogs of Lord of the Rings Risk. I found that Rohan and Eriador weren't valued high enough, and despite Arnor giving a surplus of seven battalions, the exposure it had to Rohan and Eriador on the west meant for extreme difficulty in maintaining your borders. I liked Mirkwood aswell, really only because it had a good funnel into the west, which I used a toll bridge for whatever allies I had. It was a battalion per every three battalions, and they always paid it to get through, it was hillarious. Of course, after playing for just two hours, your mind starts to go. Three hours, and you feel thirsty all the time. Five hours, you'll begin to think everyone is against you, and there is no more talk at the board. At six hours, most of us revert to the foetal position and begin saying, "Smeagol losing his nerve? THE PRECIOUS" And so on.

If, for some reason, you really, really, really want to contact me, I have an E-Mail address that I may still be using. The fun is in finding it. EDIT: Ah! ZU's addictive! I'll be gone in a week, I swear. His name is Awkin, he lives on the second floor. I'm not JAwkin! Everyone knows that it's Awkin! Ah? Eh? Know what I mean? |
