School Houses - what's your colour?
At my school, we have the traditional four colours - red, blue, green and yellow. First up, we have:
This year, our theme is Spartans! OH YEAH! I'm a part of this house, and am very proud. *Smiles a big fat proud smile* Our colour is red. Boo Stormies, you suck green beans of doom. Their theme this year is Kryptonite ("Because Superman wears yellow, red and blue! Geddit?" Ehh, shudduuup, I geddit, I geddit. =-=) This is a blue house, and they stink like sheep droppings. Their theme is Sonic this year. Their house leader was all "Yeah, we're Super Sonic!" and I was like "Duuuude, Super Sonic is Yellow! DX" So now they're just Sonic. Stoopid. They are yellow. Like pee. And puss. I call them peepuss. They're theme this year is Bumblebee, like the transformer. Apparently "back in the day" we used to have a pink house. o: I'll have to do more research on that, but I'd imagine they were pretty sassy. So, how about you guys? What houses do you have at school and which one do you belong to? *cough* okay. So maybe I have a bias against the other houses. No big deal.. Edit: Quote:

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
At our school we have Slemish, Trostan, Knocklayde and Lurigethan. Damn them for having such obscure names. They are all local mountains, although I've only ever heard of Slemish ^^;
Coincidentally, I'm in Slemish. I hate it. It doesn't matter though; in the first few years houses dictated what changing room you used, but now no one cares. We don't have any in-school tournaments either. Houses are a forgotten thing at Ballymena Academy. |

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
My school has no houses. We have only different colors for the different grades. We have Blue for Freshman, Yellow for Sophomores, Red for Juniors, and Green for Seniors...
I'm a Sophomore so yeah... -Link

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
I was in a school house way back when, but they were never as organised as this. They weren't even focused on during sporting events or exam results.
I was in "Grange", I suppose its colour could be grey, because it's dull, bland and mediocre. ~ Adhamh. |

. Like Azzy, I was in Tullamore, the RED house and BEST HOUSE, suck on that, CARLOW, COOLOCK AND STORMIES. Winning house for seven years straight, baby! House spirit is a major thing back at my high school. I don't really care much for the school itself anyway, to be honest, but for most McAulians', house spirit sticks with ya for a loooong time. When I run into old gals from my high school, the question of "What house were you in?" usually pops up, followed by "_____! Me too! " or "_____?! UGH" XD. It's all fun and games, though the competition did get serious at times in high school. Nowadays, it's something I mostly play fight with my friends about, but I still hold my Tullamore pride close to my heart <3. Quote:
XD <3. Pfft, and Tirry, YOU may like to tease me about my age, but *I* certainly haven't forgotton about my high school years. Silly dragon . |

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
^ Who said anything about high school? I haven't been anywhere that had school houses for...what? Ten years now?
But, yes, we did have school houses way back when (this was back when most of the people reading this were still crawling, mind - AND LIAH IS OLDER THAN ME!). There were three - Jones, Dean, and Fryatt. To be perfectly honest, though, I have absolutely no idea about what they stood for or anything like that. I probably wasn't paying attention when they told us. I (and the rest of my family) was in Jones, but I can't really say it made any difference. There was a house cup that got awarded at the end of every year, due to house points that we could earn at our teachers' discretion, but it was never that big of a deal. If it wasn't for the fact that the houses met up at the start of every half-year to decide on various representatives (which never actually did anything so far as I could tell), I wouldn't've known who was in which house. Anyways. Yeah. I never really paid that much attention to it. ^_^;

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
We have:
Nightingale!: Loud charismatic people. Wren!: Quiet people. Seriously, no-one knows anyone in Wren. Swift!: All the super-intelligent people. Falcon! (My house!): Our house is kind of notorious for being competitive and argumentative. Griffin!: People in this house are mostly sporty for some reason. No, we're not actually sorted on those criteria (it's random) but people in those forms seem like that to me. xD

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
We have one house. It's called Parkview high school.
We're ORANGE and BLUE, BIZACHES. Mostly orange, though. Our mascot is a panther, and we're probably changing our colors to orange and black sometime in the near future.

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
"Houses" don't appear in American schools much.
However! I went to a weird high school. We didn't have houses, per say, but we did have "companies." (Semi-military school...I think I've explained it on the forums somewhere, and I don't feel like doing that right now.) There were 5 of them, and we didn't have colors. Well, I take that back. One year we did have colors. My company had Navy blue & gold, which was good stuff (since those are the school colors, go us). The companies were really creatively titled (as are all military companies.) 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Band, Drill. Yup. I was in Band Company. Comparable to "house cup" was, I suppose, the "Honor Company" award, which was given every marking period. Before I went there, Drill Company almost always won (Band didn't care enough about the requirements to win, I think), but while I was there, Band won almost every single time. ...Drill stole the flag at one point, though, and I was forced to assault their commander with a sword.

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
When I went to Middle School we had:
Clive Marlborough <- The one I was in. Shaftesbury Wellesley All named after the roads around the school. At high school they only bought in the house system in my last year, calling them 'Companies' due to becoming a Business & Enterprise specialist school: Coubertin Da Vinci <- The one I was in and Prefect for. Franklin Mercator Roddick Shelley All named after various successful people.

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
Named after George Eliott. It consists of good musicians and singers really. Named after the snazzy Audrey Hepburn. My house (IMO the best house even though we are a good 400 points away from the other two ). Hmm.. Consists of brainy people, good singers and athletes. Named after Florence Nightingale. Arguably the best house "overall" (the one that has scored the most house points so far). Consists of good sportsmen.

Re: School Houses - what's your colour?
Quote:
I'm not sure this applies to the Australian/American members of ZU (because you don't seem to have the foggiest idea of what we are talking about), but in the UK (in the majority of schools) there are houses. When you join the school, you're automatically put into one of the 3 or 4 or 5 houses. Later on in the year, the houses compete in competitions, like sports, music and it's called interhouse .... (hockey, swimming, tennis etc). Also, for making some sort of contribution to the school, or just generally helping, you are awarded with house points. These are added up at the end of the year and revealed before the summer. Whichever house wins is the winner. And well, if you didn't understand that but you've seen Harry Potter, then it's alot like the house scheme going on in the film/book. Edit: Damn you Dom
