A Message For Everybody Who Has Or Intends To Get Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Notice to all:
I have noticed over the past week or so that spoilers for Super Smash Bros. Brawl have become increasingly common (somewhat understandably though; the game's going to be released in the US soon), and I am trying to avoid these spoilers as best I can.

I ask that you, the community of ZU, be considerate (or more considerate, depending on who you are) to those who do not wish to know these things, by wrapping spoiler tags ([spoiler][/spoiler]) around written spoilers, and post links to pictures (in [url][/url]) - instead of the pictures themselves (which are sadly usually put in image tags) - whenever they contain spoilers.

I know that this matter of hiding spoilers should go without saying, but I know a number of people who do not believe they count as spoilers if they've been announced on SSBB's official website (aka. The DOJO). I do not share this belief, and I think that everything is a spoiler until quite a while after the game is released everywhere.

Currently, I personally do know quite a few characters (about 20; I won't say which in particular), but that is all. I know nothing about how any of the characters work, including all of their attacks and their Final Smash (and related, all I know about Final Smashes in general is that they exist). I know no items nor stages, nor anything about how the game works, both inside and outside of battle.

Please avoid posting spoilers of this nature anywhere on ZU except threads which cater to such things (eg. the SSBB thread in General Gaming). If you really want to post it, then please use the suggestions on how to do this mentioned above. It would be greatly appreciated if you could do this.


This of course should be the case for all unreleased games, but it has been SSBB which I have noticed the worst.

NOTE TO MODS: I do not mind if this is locked, as I have little to no intention of discussing this, but if it is not locked, please do NOT move it to General Gaming, as the type of people who visit and post there are far more likely to have spoilers, particularly in their signatures. (and it's people's signatures I use to identify each ZUser; I barely look at usernames and avatars.) Note that I will probably respond to anybody who posts here before (if) this is locked, as I would not want to be rude.


UPDATE: Although I am now officially on a break from ZU in order to avoid these spoilers, but this doesn't mean you can post spoilers whenever you want. As there are other people who don't want Brawl spoilers, please refrain from posting stuff which the game starts with until the game is out, and use common sense for the rest.

I usually just ignore it all. Best advice. I don't even visit the 'official' website to see how cool the game will be. I'd like to find out everything myself.

I think it's best to talk about it WHEN it has been released for a few months and not on the second or third day.

Yes. I agree. Please wrap those spoilers.

The first characters to be announced - and they were announced all at once - were

It's all the talk at my high school and everyone blurbs out all of the 'recently new' characters that the website or Nintendo has confirmed. I just usually stand up and punch them in the face to make them stop before they spill it. I know it hurts them, but the information will hurt me.

Now trust me I didn't really want to watch some spoilers on Youtube but the anticipation was killing me. So I am ok with hearing about it now. So people who can hold out longer than me should stay that way.

In a topic like this, I'm not sure if it would be wise of me to read those spoiler sections BBD made. Could somebody else please read them and say whether or not they are SSBB spoilers?


On a related point, another way to display written spoilers is to say what topic the spoilers entail, like so:

EDIT: a way to safely look at spoiler-tags is to highlight each word one-by-one. That way, you can pretty much tell from the first word or so if you're going to get something you didn't want to know.

Then Just looking at the first word won't help. Now if the first word was something more like
