The Military.

Hiya, I was wondering how many ZUers are enlisted (or Commissioned) in there Nations Military, Well I will start.

First Off I leave on Apr. 16 2008, for the US Navy and my job is a CTM (Cyrptologic Technician (Maintenance)) I repair all of the De-coding equiptment and do some of the de-coding itself. Right now. I am working on passing the Physical Exams to get into the Next Pay-grade as soon as I leave.

Re: The Military.

I was an O-3 in the Navy when I left active duty a couple years ago. Good luck with your Navy career! It's not the right decision for everybody (to join the armed forces), but it certainly was the right decision for me.

Do not confuse "duty" with what other people expect of you; they are
utterly different. Duty is a debt you owe to yourself to fulfill obligations you
have assumed voluntarily. Paying that debt can entail anything from years of
patient work to instant willingness to die. Difficult it may be, but the reward
is self-respect.

Re: The Military.

I see, If i am Correct that would be. An Officer. Very nice, I don't favor the paperwork, I am going the full 20 year max. for Enlisted.

But I am going to use what the Navy gives me and use it while its there.
Such as going to college.

When I get back from bootcamp I can say Ive been though hell and back again.
Correct Jehanne?

I never went to bootcamp. I'm guessing that your assessment is probably close, though. Officers usually do something a little different for training.

Re: The Military.

Were there no current international disputes that Canada is involved in, I would definitely join up for all the civil and social benefits. With the current situation overseas in the Middle East however, there isn't a hope in hell of me joining up and risking my life for a cause I don't even support.

lol, I wouldn't survive a day in boot camp.

My brother is in the Army and he says if you don't do the required number push ups, you get kicked out. True?

:/

Usually the way that the US does it's physical fitness requirements is that you have a minimum standard that you must meet. You're given a certain number of chances (a period of time spanning months), and they work extra with you to get you up to the standard.

The minimum standards aren't that difficult, and they take into account your sex and age.

Now, as for what they require at the end of bootcamp, I dunno. The thing is that the military wants to keep you; it's very expensive to train new folks. So they do everything that they can to make sure that you meet the minimum standard. Even if it means making you run 3 miles a day.

It's usually an issue of will power and dedication.

That is what the DEP (Delayed Entry Program) is for. Its to get you in shape both Physically and Mentally. Also don't give into the Hype about it being only phsyical. And there is a set limit of Physical fitness that you must reach, However that is what bootcamp is for. Its not to make your life hell. Its to prepare you.

Yes, I believe so. The Physical standards are lower but other than that same treatment.

Re: The Military.

You might have a chance. It depends on how serious the condition is. But I say go for it.
You really have nothing to lose and Everything to gain.

Re: The Military.

It's manditory to have military service in my country though I could always start when ever. When I goto it I might volunteer to go with the NATO forces to Iraq or something.

Re: The Military.

Allot of Europe actually. But it's not a big deal it's half a year of training if you continue on that's you decision. I want to go somewhere so why not with NATO. Though I'm also a US citizen I'd rather not sign up for the US military.

I was in the sweidsh military for a while. Mandatory here as well. Didn't like it though and I'm glad I'm not there anymore. Well, if the Danish attack, I'll be ready:XD
