My fellow ZUers, I come to you today not begging, but asking eloquently for all of your aid. Over the last few weeks, I have been scouring the internet for just the right graphic designer, and I think I’ve found him. Unfortunately, “just the right” person doesn’t come cheaply. But if ZUers of the world donate a small sum each - just a dollar or two - to ZU, then I promise you’ll see something you won’t regret.

A while back I stated that ZU had a new layout in the works. This was slightly delayed as certain people who were working on it weren’t up to the task. Reluctantly I decided to find a pro to make ZU’s next look. I searched for weeks and weeks, and found somebody – and he’s really amazing. I don’t want to say his name, since I’d like to surprise you all with what he produces, but it really is incredible. You’ll wonder why we let ZU look like it does now once this man has finished his work.

But his services don’t come cheap. Rather, they’re quite taxing – and the money that ZU earns alone just doesn’t cut it. I’d love to hire this man to make the most amazing thing you’ll ever see, but I don’t have the money to do it.

That’s where you guys come in. ZU has the greatest community on the face of the Earth, and I can say that because I’ve basically lived in that community for four years. It’s the reason why many people stick around ZU. The forums are the most visited part of the site. They are and always will be free, but ZU is now eloquently asking that community to give back a small sum, in return for something so awesome that it’ll be awesomely worth it.

I’d planned to release the new layout sometime around April, but unless I can scrounge up the money, well, that might not happen. We’ve got a LOT more than just a layout in store for this ZU rerun. We’re doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work that we’re not going to spoil for you right now, but you’ll like what’s coming. And it should come around April, if everybody gives a dollar or so.

Heck, if everybody who visits ZU gave a dollar, then we would have enough to remake ZU many times over.

I’m not on my knees, because Scott told me I should be as eloquent as possible with this. So I’m on one knee, asking the ZU community to marry me – but pay for a fraction of the wedding ring. Because trust me, it’s the most incredible diamond you’ll ever see.

Our goal is to raise $2000. Believe it or not, that's not the whole cost - far from it. So, you can see why we would turn to you guys! We only accept donations through Paypal, so please - if you don't have a Paypal account (or if your parents don't), they're free and quite possibly the most useful way to pay for things on the internet.

As soon as my transfer is complete, I'm throwing fifty bucks at you, baby.

Because I'm cheap, the most I would do is $5 or $10. I will see if I can donate, because I'd love to.

Ike, for that sum I'd expect it to be covered in melted gold, as someone who does graphics, php work & various other assortments of online stuff, I really hope you're getting your money's worth, because thats a hell of a sum, hopefully it'll be a hell of new layout.

Here's a word of advice: If you want more donations, promise limited power mod spots to those who donate a certain amount. If you don't like them as a mod you can just fire them after a day or three, if you do like them then you can keep them.

Either way you get more donations.

That could be like, false advertising, and also $2,000 = $1 a person, that's 2,000 mods.

Thats pretty unfair to people who would make perfect moderators and don't have the facilities to send money over the internet, being a moderator/part of a staffing team is judged by contribution to the community not contribution to the funding of the community.

Also, I'd end up a mod.

If I sticky it, it'll probably go largely unnoticed. Let it get a little more attention un-stickied.

I'll also make an announcement out of it tomorrow.
