Re: Dear Norway, Is this true?

A very rose-colored picture to be sure. I won't believe it, though, until some actual Norweigans here at ZU speak up.

My exposure to Norway amounted to a stopover at Oslo's airport on the way to Moscow.

Re: Dear Norway, Is this true?

Well I have an uncle who lives in Norway and I myself have been there multiple times and I would have to agree with the video to an extent.

The Death Metal thing is mainly Finland.

Re: Dear Norway, Is this true?

from what i know, everything said in the video is true.. but they don't show de downsides of norway, like high taxes and expensive cars.
also, when you have a broken arm you may have to wait 3 weeks before you can get treated..

Re: Dear Norway, Is this true?

But I thought Norway was all pan-Germanic nationalists, romanticizing paganism, Satanism, and atheism, who sit around playing or listening to black metal in the day and burn churches at night.

Re: Dear Norway, Is this true?

Nope, Norway's a country of blonde-haired hippies that are only living as well as they do because of all of the oil they've got sitting right off their coast. :3

Once all the oil's gone, they'll be boned and they won't be able to throw such large amounts of money into that horrible pit that is public welfare. <3

Re: Dear Norway, Is this true?

Let's see... Of course the video is showing Norway from the best side, and not exactly objective, but the claims about the acctual systems I would guess is true(the lenght of maternity leave and such).

Norway is NOT the country with highest HDI anymore, though, Iceland beat us this year.

That prison is a bit of a special case, I doubt many prisoners get to serve under such conditions. And the maximum sentance isn't exactly 21 years. There are some crimes that can give a sentance with such conditions that at the end of it, the case is revised, and the convict may serve even more time.

The biggest reason for the posetive sides in Norway comes from the oil I guess. Thanks to soem brilliant work back when it first started, the Norwegian government kept control of the oil reserves(American companies naturally tried to get them), and now we have a huge found of oil money.

Andi: Norway has about a 100 years worth of oil, and the oil found will live long after that(unless we get a too right-wing governement, they're all for spending it). After that, maybe thorium will bring us onwards? It would fit nicely with the energy-nation of Norway, first water-power, then oil, then atomic.

And I wouldn't call it a "horrible pit". It seems to work.

I would assume from these that Erik currently resides in Norway, regardless of what the flag under his profile says.

...And I still find the town of Hell to be rather amusing.

Re: Dear Norway, Is this true?

I've heard mostly good about Norway (I'm in Sweden) such as jobs being easier to find, and the pay being higher than it is here.

My sister has been there plenty of times... I haven't spent enough time there to say much.
