The English Language is a Funny Thing!

Hi there.
I was watching a program yesterday and it amazed me.

Did you know, the only word in the english dictionary that has three of the same letters right next to each other is... Goddessship.

I checked and its true. What a strange word. I never even head it before.

So, this thread is for those of you that know of some really odd words. Anything you can think of thats slightly out of the ordinary. Lets see what you all come up with.

Ooh, I've got one. "Antidisestablishmentarianism." I'm not too sure what it means, but I'm pretty sure it's the longest word in our language. I think I had it as a spelling word in sixth grade, but it's not so difficult if you sound it out. ^_^

Oh yeah? I've been greatly mislead. At least you can pronounce "Antidisestablishmentarianism." I don't even know where to begin with.. that word you typed. I tried reading it to myself, and it was coming out painfully slow..

I think I spent about a week coming to terms with it, if only so I can post in threads like this. It means "The act or habit of estimating a person or object as worthless", or something close to that.

No, I don't have all this in memory, only the bits about floccinaucinihilipilification. But this thread got me interested, so I popped over to Wikipedia and had a look.

No, I don't know how to use those last two in a sentence that makes sense.

Well, I assume something like "He invented things previously undreamt of", but in terms of adreamt, I have no idea either.

Ah yes, technically. floccinaucinihilipilification is the longest non-technical word, I believe. You can, for example, put -ism on the end of it, but then it becomes a "technical" word. I guess you could say it's the longest "root" word, as it can't be formed by sticking prefixes and suffixes on something else (No, ion doesn't cont for this, and neither does in, or lip, or any of the other tiny words found in it.)

I dont like the way that the British newspapers, when reporting about someone killing themseves with rope around their neck always say that they were hanged.
Im pretty sure that they are right but I think that it should read hung.
Am I talking rubbish or does anyone get what Im saying?

As far as online dictionaries are concerned, "adreamt" isn't a word.
