Re: World War Remembrance
Commonwealth nations have remembrance (or "poppy") day. Other nations may have their own equivalents, but not with the same name.
Regardless, I think this would fit better in the GCC, so I shall move it there posthaste.

Re: World War Remembrance
What's the tradition? Word War 1 ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month? If anyone was wondering, that's why Remembrance Day is the 11th November (with the nearest Sunday being Remembrance Sunday, but there's no difference this year).

Re: World War Remembrance
I've always had respect for Rememberance Day, but Australians and New Zealanders have another day on top of that to remember and honour those who served in war: ANZAC Day. The 25th of April is when we honour those who fought in the battle at Gallipoli (in Turkey). The Turkish won that battle, but that never stopped us from making a Public Holiday of it.
