I learned something new today!

I thought this would be a fun thread. (I don't think this has been done before. I checked.)

Basically, everybody learns at least one new thing a day. Whether from school, work, or from life in general, right? It could also be something extremely random and goofy!

I learned how to make a taser out of a disposable camera from a guy in my chemistry class. Not sure if it would actually work though.

Edit: I also learned some weird Old English words while reading the Canterbury Tales. Eek means also. Nones means for the occasion. And rote has like several weird meanings.

I learned that I have 1 week to rent a DVD in my library and give it back....FOR FREE!!
Ok, I knew that already, but really, I learned about irregular french verbs and conjunctions in french class today.

Haha spruce58052, that is awesome! Well, lets see, I guess I learned today that people who can't sing shouldn't sing, especially in public. I work in the music building, and we have some horrible vocal majors.

I learned that girls get freaked out when you run up to them(while there by a guy) and say"what are you with him! this is over!!!"
P.S- I hardly knew the girl I said that to.

I learned today in science class that Chuck E. Cheese opens a 10:00 AM
I thought that it was a rather random and interesting fact that our teacher told us.

I've already told nayru.

I learned about the "Hold Your Wee to Win a Wii" contest today. It was sad.

Today I learned that Tonya Harding shot JFK! Read the whole thing. I dare you.

This is the funniest crazy guy I've seen in a long time. See also: his AIDS Monster article, among others.

Well today I learned that maybe it is worth getting into a fight in the beginning of the year my first year in High School...bad decision I know but I want him to die.

Toady I learned that you should never talk gangster as a joke when your the biggest loser in all of the 8th grade. I also learned that 13 year olds with plastic surgery look funny.

Today we learned the reason why our computer science class is so hard. The teacher yelling at us constantly, of course.

Anything else? Um... not really. Oh, wait! I learned that the outlets way in the back of my room really do work! And that it's incredibly dusty back there.

This is a little late, but a few days ago I was studying Benjamin Franklin for school, and came across a letter he sent to a young friend giving reasons why it's better to marry an old woman than a young one:

1. Because as they have more Knowledge of the World and their Minds are better stor’d with Observations, their Conversation is more improving and more lastingly agreable.

2. Because when Women cease to be handsome, they study to be good. To maintain their Influence over Men, they supply the Diminution of Beauty by an Augmentation of Utility. They learn to do a 1000 Services small and great, and are the most tender and useful of all Friends when you are sick. Thus they continue amiable. And hence there is hardly such a thing to be found as an old Woman who is not a good Woman.

3. Because there is no hazard of Children, which irregularly produc’d may be attended with much Inconvenience.

4. Because thro’ more Experience, they are more prudent and discreet in conducting an Intrigue to prevent Suspicion. The Commerce with them is therefore safer with regard to your Reputation. And with regard to theirs, if the Affair should happen to be known, considerate People might be rather inclin’d to excuse an old Woman who would kindly take care of a young Man, form his Manners by her good Counsels, and prevent his ruining his Health and Fortune among mercenary Prostitutes.

5. Because in every Animal that walks upright, the Deficiency of the Fluids that fill the Muscles appears first in the highest Part: The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement.

6. Because the Sin is less. The debauching a Virgin may be her Ruin, and make her for Life unhappy.

7. Because the Compunction is less. The having made a young Girl miserable may give you frequent bitter Reflections; none of which can attend the making an old Woman happy.

On the same day I read some of the exchanges he had with his many female acquaintances, which all seemed full of 18-century innuendo. It's nice to know that nothing has changed.

Today I learned how to blow glass.

I also learned how to fail at this.

Additionally, I learned I ask too many questions regarding small matters.

you mean when joseph smith found the golden tablets, translated them, and then buried them?

and FYI- the mormon church has a LOT of things in their history that even life long mormons don't know. "One Nation Under Gods" is a great book to read up on it, also, "No Man Knows my History" is the life story of joseph smith.
