Busting a record

I was browsing around the forums this morning before I hop my bus to school. and I noticed that at the bottom of the main forum page it says the most users ever online at the same time was 702. I think we should try and break that record. I don't even know if theres that many active members at the moment, but all we would need to do is all log on at the same time. of course, timezones and stuff would need to be discussed. I just think it might be a fun thing to try.

You know that crazy kid on your bus that laughs at random moments because he's thinking about something funny that happened yesterday? Yeah, that's me

Re: Busting a record

There never was 702. It was when google search spiders were going crazy or something. So it isn't a real record.

Re: Busting a record

Thats a silly idea. Why kind of a record is most users online at one time anyway? A stupid one. Go try fill a football stadium with people wearing Zelda shirts or some weird crap.

My own guess is that at that time, we were being raided by spam-bots.

Really? Last I checked, that record is set in February 2005. That's when they released the extended TP trailer. To be honest, I've never seen so much anticipation for a trailer before. Sure it wasn't just that day? I know several Zelda sites got overloaded with people when they released that trailer.

Re: Busting a record

Most forums have their records set either by spam bots or by search engine "spiders". In fact, unless the forum is specially set up not to include stuff like that into the record count, it's a rarity to see a record count not set by those factors.

Granted, the TP trailer may have helped things along, but it most certainly did not set the record by itself.

Re: Busting a record

DAMMIT YOU STOLE MY IDEA!

I've been noticing a steady increase in members online lately, and I wanted to wait for the right moment to bring this up.

But in any case, from what you all have said, I guess that may be impossible... what with all of the google spiders and spambots contributing to the previous record.
