what instrument do you play?

The instrument I know how to play the best would have to be the tenor sax. However, I know how to play several instruments to a certain degree. I play the drums somewhat, but I don't have a kit that's playable, so I never get to practice. I'm learning the bass guitar, which I find more fun to play than the standard acoustic/electric guitar. And I also do vocals and such. I'm working on my distorted (death/black metal style vocals), and getting my stamina up so I can do it interchangeably with my clean vocals, and do it for long periods of time. It's taking a lot of practice, but hopefully I'll get it nailed down in a few years.

Trumpet mostly. I'm in the band. I dab around in the piano though, and I'm known for singing A LOT.

i also play guitar piano baritone trombone some percussion some trumpet. except for bassoon i think the woodwinds can kiss my A**!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (by the way its my birthday tommorow!)

Anyway, we had t-shirts for each section, and it was mutually decided that whoever had the most discretely hidden sexual innuendo saying on their t-shirt would be the best instrument section or something. Trombones won, for obvious reasons if you think hard about their instrument name itself.

I could go on and tell you all of them, but some of them were just really discusting haha...but ours for clarinets was pretty simple (which is why we didn't win). "We use our hands!" and also "Brass blow, we finger!"

I can play the recorder, haha. but I can also play the clarinet. I sort of have neglected it though, I got a bit bored with it.

Yay, a thread for me!!

Well, I'm a music education major - band emphasis, so I play several instruments.
My main is flute/piccolo, but I play trombone, saxophone (I play all of them, but Bari sax ALL THE WAY!!! ), clarinet, euphonium/baritone, piano, and my husband and I actually have and play an ocarina, so I guess that too.

I'm a senior now! 4 more semesters left! THE END IS NEAR!!! ^_^

Our band has a sax shirt that says "I'm to saxy for this shirt." It had the pink panther on it.

Anyways, I am the only male floutist in my band. It is pretty sweet.

I currently am playing the Clarinet in band, but I also play Violin...I am a traitor to our Orchestra.

Hey! Flute is the hardest woodwind to play. And once you learn flute, playing all the other instruments are easy.

That is not true, it may be easier to play all of the instruments because of how you play it, but it is different than all the other instruments. It would be harder to play the sax if you were a flute verses a clarinet.

But yea, they are the hardest instuments to play. There is a cost to being the best instrument.

No. each instrument is difficult in it's own way. I say that with experience. For me trumpet was the hardest, saxophone was the easiest. It's not that flute or trumpet are the hardest instruments, it's that we started with them. (I'm assuming you started on the flute..)

It doesn't stop the flute from sucking a** though. XD I kid, but seriously, flute is the one woodwind I can not stand. I do not doubt that it is just as difficult as the rest of the instruments, but claiming it's the hardest of them all is really an opinion. Not only is each instrument hard in their own way, we all have different ways of learning, and some instruments may come easier to us then others.

If you're marching, it is the hardest. We have to be absolutely still, or it will catch someone's eye, since it is the shinest of all the instruments. and as for being bad, it is the most melodic. It is awesume (a-sume-e') and it is cool because it is the most diverse of all the instruments.

I've never marched it, so I won't say anything to that.

However, the rest of it is just opinions... Stated as facts. I think the bassoon is a much more versatile instrument. I don't go around calling it "awesume" and claiming it's the most versatile instrument...

Well, I have called it the best before, and my section and I do think that we're the best section in band. XD

The flute is played to its side. It is also played by blowing, not buzzing, not with a reed, blowing. That is why it is the most diverse instrument.

Whatever, I'd say that all of the woodwinds are diverse. :/

I taught beginning woodwinds for 3 years, and students pick saxophone up really fast. Flutes are extremely hard to get down, and Clarinets, its sorta in between.

Flute is the hardest to get GOOD at. I guess thats the way I should have put it.
