Speed Typing, how fast are your fingers?

Well, I've been thinking for quite a while, how fast does the average ZUer type? Well, I finally got around to finding a calculator for just that.

When I used it, I averaged 55 to 65 words per minute.

The best way to improve your typing? Spend time in a chat-room, it'll help you far more then a teaching program. (Provided, of course, that you know the basics, if you don't know how to use home-row then you're going to be a slow typer until you're taught it.)

well, for an Belgian 13 year old boy it is actually very good, (i never learnt english)

83, I type at a decent speed. Even though i don't type insanely fast, I never look at the keyboard and my eyes are always on the screen. It really anoys the hell out of me when someone I know is typing and they're staring at the keys and they make all these grammer errors, forget to put spaces inbetween words, and stuff, and then they look at the screen after they've written a whole sentence and fix it all and it takes them like 5 minutes, lol.

Yeah, copy and paste. Then however long it takes to click the stoppy thing. For me I actually got 35, but that's not accurate. If it says test, I try to rush and mess up and automatically try to fix it. Or, if I'm trying to read as I type I go really slowly. I type faster if I see the keyboard and think up what I'm typing. Reading takes too long.

I copyed and pasted and got 1560 WPM. Pressing the Tab button is faster.

You didn't by any chance type out the sentence in a word document and then copy and paste it into the test did you? I did that for a longer one and got 1580 WPM.

But in all honesty I got 55WPM.

I consistently get between 80 and 90 WPM - I got 97 once. Naturally, I type faster when they're my own words, not when they're someone else's. When I'm typing my own words, my friends look at me and go, "You type ****ing fast."

This high WPM I have is also evident when anybody converses with me through IM - you'll find I talk way too much, if only because I can type so fast.

By the way, those high WPM's don't say anything but how fast you can paste a bunch of text. Good job!

I myself tried three times and I'd say I averaged between 80 and 120 WPM, though I can most definitely get more when I'm typing my own words.
