Arguing with teachers

Do you enjoy it?

I actually love arguing with teachers. Specially my Natural Sciences teacher, I enjoy it because he is so stupid.

My mind is to blank to write an example... [blank]

Re: Arguing with teachers

Oh I love going at it with teachers. Especially those that I don't respect. Like my grade 8 History teacher.. Vile women I like it too sometimes because its the only intelligent debate you can sometimes have exept when the teacher in question is really stupid.

I argued for ages with this history teacher about something to do with Switzerland... I LIVED THERE was not enough proof for here... well what can one do..

Re: Arguing with teachers

i never argue with teachers. they always seem to like me, so i really have no reason to argue. i had a teacher last you that was a jerk, but i was too afraid to ever argue with him (he was kind of scary), plus nothing ever came up between us where i had to.

actually i did kind of argue with my 4th grade teacher once...i whispered something to a friend and the girl across from me told the teacher that she could not concentrate because i was whispering to my friend. the teacher said we were allowed to talk quietly and when i said "but i have the right to talk" when the teacher told me to be quiet it was kind of an argument. that girl was a meany. she picked on me and pulled my chair out from under me before, so i was not really bothering her. she was just being mean.

also i argued with my peak teacher before. me and my friend were goofing around and kind of got in a fight, but not really. just a few scratches. we were still friends though, and there was not really a problem. she sent us the the principal's office and this was in 5th grade and we had to write on a slip what we did wrong and i wrote "said to be fighting" and oh, did that make her mad.

i do not enjoy arguing with teachers. i do not enjoy arguing at all, but when you argue with a teacher it is very easy to get written up and that is not fun.

Re: Arguing with teachers

I argued with my English I Honors teacher about whether or not there is true evil in the world. I told her that although some people/things are widely regarded as evil, there are bound to be some people who don't feel that way. An act that is evil to one person may be heroic to another, and so evil is based on perception. She... didn't seem to believe that.

I didn't quite like her, but I don't make a habit of arguing with teachers that I don't like. It was just a nice opportunity.

Re: Arguing with teachers

As a teacher, myself, I try not to let "arguments" start.

The sad truth is that I can pretty easily make a kid feel stupid, and hurt them. Tis liberating. heheheh ;0)

But seriously, no teacher really needs to argue with a student. That's a power struggle that really shouldn't ever occur.

Now, as for DISCUSSIONS, I do those constantly. My classes are all based on discussions.

Stupidity, however, I don't really tolerate. If you get on my nerves, you're gonna know it...and so is everyone else...and yeah, your parent(s)/guardian(s). I don't mind calling home one bit :0P'

I must admit that I sometimes "get smart" with students who "get smart" with me. Not a good habit, though, cuz it can be more hurtful than anything.

Btw, when a teacher gives up on you, it's a bad sign.

Re: Arguing with teachers

Hm, I doubt very many teachers are quite as interesting as I am *haughty expression*

Actually, just a couple days ago I was thinking how boring most of my kids must be to never have become active members of ZU :0P''

It's kinda cool, though, cuz I talk about gaming stuff with a couple of my kids now and then. About 4/5 of the class are like, "o-O"

Re: Arguing with teachers

BBD I WANT YOU TO BE MY TEACHER ;-;

Arguing with teachers? Hells yeah. Since grade 5. My teacher last year was a big dick, so I argued with him, because it seemed I was the only one in the whole school who wasnt afraid of him. I argued over what I deemed to be unfair behaviour on his part.

Thats basically my grade 7 teacher all of the time, and over stupid stuff if he has a grudge against you or one of your older siblings whom he taught.

Grade 6? New school coming from French Immersion, I realised how slow the French program is in english classes. I argued with my french teacher the first day, and won. My real teacher was a big idiot too. Didnt actually TEACH us anything, thus I would get bored and argue over stupid things.

I dont really feel like digging any deeper.

Re: Arguing with teachers

Yes, I indeed argue with my teachers a lot .

Teachers here are huge idiots, I argue with them a lot, but seriously, they don't know what they're talking about.

I got into an argument with the Principal (sp?) because I saw my friend another kid get into a fight, I saw the other kid get attack my friend first, the other kid lied and said my friend started it, the Principal believed him and suspended my friend from school for three weeks, I argued with him and said the other kid attacked my friend first, I ended up getting suspended for three weeks too :glare.

Arguing was fun though .

Re: Arguing with teachers

My current Form Tutor is a moron. EVERYONE argues with him, and most of the time he can't come up with a comeback, so he just sends them out of the room. It's great as well when you don't pay attention, a teacher asks you what they said, and you just recite it back word for word. Their gobsmacked look; priceless.

Re: Arguing with teachers

It can either screw you over or be a very, very valuable thing to do. It depends entirely on the situation. For example, I'd love to yank my high school teachers' chains because generally I'd win and make them look like fools. Arguing over marks can also be a very good way to get some extra points here and there, and it should be done so long as you have a valid case.

However, university professors are a lot more unpredictable. You can easily wind up looking like a total idiot if you get dragged into a debate where they know much, much more than you do... and usually they do, if they're teaching you at that level. I still do a pretty good job of avoiding that, though, usually because I argue over philosophical matters that aren't particularly set in stone. Of course, that resembles discussion more than argument, so usually there's no embarrassment experienced by either party.

Re: Arguing with teachers

I argue with teachers sometimes.

once I asked a teacher what oblong meant and she said "That's not a word."
and I said ORLY? So I went and got a dictionary. it said,
"Oblong"
"a two-dimensional, rectangular figure, but with one pair of opposite sides longer than the other pair". I went and showed it to her and she sent me out of the room.

As for fear, I've never realy been afraid of anyone at school.

You sound like my 6th grade math teacher. He loves gaming and discussions in class.

Never argued with a teacher before. People who do argue with teachers dont shut up before their lives are made worse.

EDIT: But I will probobly someday, once my teachers tell us lies =P

Re: Arguing with teachers

I've had a few arguements with my French teacher twice, once in Yr 10 while in Paris. Basically, we were all in groups to entertain the rest of the year in the evening and i was left to do my groups work alone as they fell ill. Then she demanded my french diary for the day to look through and i told her to literately **** off as i was busy practicing for the entertainment which you have no intention of helping me out, i won that argument and got help with the performance with the help of the head of french.

The other in Yr 11 when we were having mock exams and i had a doctors appointment and as i was leaving for it, she said i am not going anywhere till i have had my verbal exam. I walked out for the appointment came back to the wrath of the teacher, for which i said to her "you knew i had to go, so why stop me". She got stumped and stormed off for the rest of the lesson in a huff.

You are the coolest teacher. Ever.

I love argueing with my British teachers about how America doesnt suck and how the worlds view of us doesn't really matter nor make sense. It's great fun, they enjoy seeing my perspective and especially like it when I actually don't fall asleep. >.>

Now, I don't do that with all of them. Just a few. The rest of my teachers would blow up at me and send me out of the room forcing me to sit on the floor and beat me with a stick (not fun I might add). Don't try this at home.

lmao! Oh I forgot about that! I used to always pretend I was not paying attention in elementary school. Then the teacher would randomly call on me to answer a question or continue reading and I would always have the answer/ know where we were in the book. It is a shame that I do not get as much a chance to do this in highschool. The teachers do not care as much if you do not pay attention. But you are right...that look on their face is priceless.
