Re: Health: Testicular cancer...
1)This is serious discussion.
2)Is there a doctor in the forums? Talk to your doctor. Don't be afraid. I had a doctor examine my area because I wasn't going through puberty correctly. I was fifteen or sixteen, and looked like I was ten. So if you're afraid of showing yourself, you're not the only one who has. They are professionals, and not the kind of people who go into the business of looking at crotches because it turns them on. |

The males on my father's side suffer from heart attacks at a young age (40's/50's), while on my mother's side there's high blood pressure. And me being overweight isn't the best thing for my health (that could lead to diabetes), so I'm quickly digging myself a grave when I don't heed the doctor's advice (and digging my children's graves if I marry someone with heart disease. That would be a quadruple whammy). But this isn't about me, it's about you. I hate the doctors too, but I've realized that most things in life that are good for us we usually don't like (for example vaccines...the main reason I don't like doctors. I hate needles). Edit: Yes, and shouldn't be taken lightly. Should it be moved to Internet: Serious Business? Well that's up to Diaz-samsoul if he wants that sort of attention. I'll move it at his own digression. -BGS

Re: Health: Testicular cancer...
Check out that link to the wiki article that BigGoronSword posted. Check out the advice it has there; examine yourself in the shower every now and then for any changes in your testicles (the wiki article has some of the symptoms you could find, such as lumps or hardness on one testicle). If you find anything unusual, get down to the doctor and get it checked out.
If it's really bothering you, I think it would do you good to go and get checked out by your GP anway. Getting the all-clear will give you peace of mind. I don't think there's too much to worry about at your age though. Ultimately, it's better to be safe than sorry, so a quick check-up with your GP won't hurt.

Re: Health: Testicular cancer...
EVERY guy should get examinations done regularly, just like EVERY girl should do the same. That being said, it's embarrassing to start going. I figure I really should start going, especially because I'm older. But YOUR family has a HISTORY of the cancer, so you NEED to start going, DEFinitely.
Maybe they'll even give you a lollipop ;0) But seriously, start going. I'm sure after the first time things will be easy for you. Your marbles *cough* are lymph nodes, and is you get lymph node cancer, you're pretty much done if not caught early. Think of it this way--it's a heck of a lot better than prostate checkups would be ;0) [there HAS to be an easier way...which is why I've not ever gone yet, hah..] And yes, although I don't really want to say it on a forum....self-examinations are a must...for both guys AND gals. But they're far from full-proof, and you shouldn't do them too close together in time because the whole point is to notice CHANGES. It's like if you look at your weight from day to day in a mirror...it's too subjective--you won't notice the changes as well.

Re: Health: Testicular cancer...
Look at the Wiki Article posted by BGS, that will help you a little on the subject of Testicular Cancer. The main thing to look for is changes in that area, but you should seriously go to a doctor immediately since it runs in the family. Doctors are not Pedophiles who like looking at crotches. If you do have cancer in that area, it would be a heck of a lot easier to cure it since it was caught earlier.
I don't like going to the doctors only because of the needles there. Whenever I have to get a shot of some sort, I never want to do it.
