August 15th PARTAY

Today, august 15th is the acadian national holiday. The Acadians are a "nation" I guess you could call it of peoples inhabiting the Atlantic provinces of Canada for more info on them go Hier BITTE!

Anyways today is a day for us to make noise and our presence felt... Basically a fair sized party. My boss also let us out early today for the occasion.

Anyways just wanted to share that.

Hey hey, sweet. I didn't realize we had an official day. Do Cajuns celebrate it, too? What kind of partying do we do?

I think some of the hardcore cajuns go at it.

The main tradition is usually a big parade where all the acadians walk down the street with pots and pans and try to make as much noise as possible. Just to say "Where still here" or something in that fashion. Other than that lot's of music, lots of traditional good food and lots of good'ol drinking

Quite a few Acadians around here (Louisiana), and yet this is the first I've heard of the holiday.

Its mostly celebrated around here. Quite a few Cajuns from Louisiana come up tho, Anyways I have to stop typing before I embarass myself I am quite intoxicated

My new goal is to go out the East Coast (perhaps to, Mirimachi, where I have family) during this so-called Acadian Day one year. Nobody parties like the East-Coasters, and I do love it out there so much.
