Re: Newbies to oldies
What would you define me as?
*split personality* wat woo djew cal meh? No better example than that to say that, aside from rare cases, time makes no difference whatsoever. Whereas Jehanne (mentioned it before) is a mod and she joined this year. People that joined in 2002 might have taken the job, but it was offered to Jehanne.

They were both joking because they both have been around for three years and have less than one-thousand posts.

Re: Newbies to oldies
Its like society eh? People juge others by social ranks? I don't really like it personally. Call me what you like but I don't care weather you have been here since the first day or just got here today but the way you make your impression to me won't be according to social status that other proclaim upon you. If your annoying I call you annoying. If your cool your cool. Doesn't matter who you are and how long you have been here or if you fit within a mold of some sort.

Re: Newbies to oldies
Rem - the issue here is not a case of "who do you think is an oldie, and therefore more worthy of your respect?" kinda question xD
It's just a matter of classification, and has nothing to do with treatment according to that matter =) So, by saying I view you as an oldie, I don;t mean to say that because of that, I'll hold you in higher regard to newer members. In fact, I've had quote a few newbie highlights .. You're right, a cool person is a cool person regardless. But a cool new person wouldn't have the joint memories that I'd have with oldies - and that's the only difference =) So, classifying members into "forum age/status" doesn't mean anything with regards to respect status :p At least in my book.

Your also right that this has to do with memories with others that I totally agree its the right benchmark to do a classification, if at all. ![]() I didn't mean to sound as bleak as I did.

'Twould be a great idea to get rid of the post counts, so only mods can see it to put you in clans etc.

Re: Newbies to oldies
I'll have to disagree with you on that point. For a lot of people your post count is like a badge of honor. Now it may not be the absolute pride and joy for some of those people but, it can be a thing to be proud of. Take my situation for example, just by looking at my join date and post count people can easily assume I'm a ZU lurker and that is something I am proud of.
