It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

As I promised when I announce I was taking a leave in the CT a few weeks back, I am back to tie up some loose ends.

I'm outta here. Pretty much completely. Unlike every other twit that posts a leaving thread only to come back a month later, this one is completely serious. I don't mean leave to sneak back with sockpuppets and troll like in the old days, either. I'm gone.

This place is seriously too disgusting of a "community" for me to waste anymore time posting here, or even trolling here, for that matter. I'm sick of everything, so I'm finally out of here. There are too many issues for me to even count, but the main one is the drama. It's not even the funny drama that arises from trolling, but just the retarded drama from people that shouldn't even be allowed on the internet. This place isn't so much a community anymore as much as it is a ton of kids fighting, with older and supposedly more mature members somehow deluding themselves that this place is a great forum to be on.

It's at the point where it isn't even worth fixing in my eyes. The breaking point comes when you see and hear nothing of the constant bickering in the staff board. It's a ****ing wonder this site hasn't completely degraded into a pool of spam and unmoderated madness, because nobody in staff can agree on a single ****ing thing. It's even worse when you're sending countless reports to this mod team of retards using sockpuppets, admitting to it and spamming up the boards, and for whatever reason bans are not given out because there is a remote chance they'll somehow become a good member. On the flipside, you have moderators who mod base on personal grudges, or just handing out infractions for the most pointless things, yet genuine asshattery is allowed to not only continue, but encouraged to flourish because it is somehow considered productive.

Tell me, why are we still here? Because "they always come back?" Because we have some sort of obligation to hang out and support a place like this? Is there any reason whatsoever why anybody should stay here?

This brings me into what I'm here to announce.

About a month ago, a handful of us from the chat asked this same question to ourselves. We had some lengthy discussions, and came to the conclusion that the only reason we've stayed at ZU for so long is for each other. So, we decided that the best course of events would be to break off and migrate as a collective group onto a new site. And that site would be, ZeldaInformer

A few dozen of us have been putting a lot of work in getting this going, and our labor is finally bearing some fruit. And despite somebody leaking this to almost all the ZU staff, we've been carrying out our work (for the most part) in private.

Today, we finally go live with this.

This isn't just a handful of chatters making a dramatic exit, either. We've managed to snag a few dozen people who realize the same thing: We're better off, as a group, someplace else. On top of that, the existing VGRC community is behind it.

ZeldaInformer, as a site, we have high hopes for already. We've got a team of people who know what they are doing, and don't spend all damn day fighting over the most pointless things. We're striving to provide top-notch and (gasp) unbiased content, which is frankly something extremely rare in the Zelda fansite community as a whole.

ZeldaInformer, as a community, is looking even better. Everything has been integrated into VGRC, so your VGRC account works at ZI if you are already regged there. On top of Starship ZUChat and its friends working on this, I am also pleased to announce that the ZU Bombers group (remember them?) is also making a transition to ZeldaInformer, where they will continue writing their excellent theories, as well as writing content for the site as part of our writing team. Yeah, quite a bit of support behind this.

All that said, it is time for Starship ZUChat to blast off one last time. Some of you are going to be quite happy, and you know something? We really don't care. To people like Taledin, The Black Knight, Kynella, Polloman300 and countless other retards we've run into, you can rest easy in knowing that you are now free to spew your idiocy as much as you'd like without 'evil trolls' such as myself condemning you for it. Have fun.

However, there are some of you we may only know as acquaintences, or maybe not at all, but don't have anything against you. You all know who you are, and I'd just like to say that even though we didn't invite you in advance, you are welcome at ZI/VGRC with us anytime.

I'll most likely be sticking around the next few days here to answer questions and tie up some loose ends with a few certain members that are never in the chat.

We already have a thread devoted to addressing general misconceptions, which you may just want to check out before commenting on this. For those who show up, you can read the "Part 2" thread here. Bonus points to whoever can figure out where I got the two thread titles from.

I don't have anything else to say aside from that. I can't wait to get the hell out of this dump. Farewell!

It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

I've been here for a little over a year. Some people here I like, whether they know it or not. Others are retarded, and I'm glad I'm leaving this place.

Like some others here, I'm leaving this place for VGRC, which is hosting ZeldaInformer. Instead of a pathetic fansite that only has a large number of members to back up, I'm positive ZI will reach it's goal. This place is full of nothing but fanboys and a terrible mod team. (No offense to some mods. You know who you are.) This place has really just become a dump full of bull****. I'm glad to be saying this after one, dreadful year: Goodbye! Forever!

It's ******s like Monty Burns that make this place a dump.

My post got cut off by ZU Mondays. The gist of it? Well, I'm tired of the drama, the idiocy, the failure.

It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

Yea well these last 3 (?) years have been mighty fun sort of. This site's quality has vanished. The server fails frequently, pop ups are becoming more and more of a concern slowing my comp down, and overall the community sucks.

Not the whole community, but most yes. I've tried fitting in as best I can sense when I joied back in 04, and I've gotten a nice group of friends as my sig shows. The intelligence of most of you sickens me, I've had better conversations with my dog. I usually try to be nice to everyone lurk around and not to be too invloved, but ya know I'm done.

So yea this places has been going down the crapper. I almost planned on staying, but then like I said the site quality dropped.

The staff here used to be good, but all i see are petty arguments about the stupidest things.

Will I miss this place, maybe, but I'll get over it in about 5 min, because I will realize that everyone I talk to will be in the chat and at ZI.

Will I ever come back?

No because like I have said ZI and the chat are all i need.

SO good bye losers

Basically, I'm with Capn. ZU has been incredibly boring and, well, gay for some time now.

I've been sick of it for months, thats why I haven't posted for ages.

Viva La Revolution!

Goodbye.

Re: It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

A very negative drama-filled departure.
I didn't expect you to leave on such a sour note.

To address the place where the community and the forum you now so vehemently spit at like this when it's the very one that has provided you with the "leet community" you now speak of reeks of lowness and hypocricy.

Really disappointed in you for that (I know I know , you might not care for that, but I was just saying).

To say that "you're better off" elsewhere, and that you're all "migrating" - these are all strange terms online where it's more than possible to be in many places simultaneously.
The elite group you speak of started our as a mixture exactly the same as any other starting-out mixture of people, some new to the internet, some noobs, some just young - and grown up together. There is nothing fantastically and uniquely different that makes "the oldies" instantly more superior intrnsically (from the beginning) than others starting out also in their beginnings - only, the oldies have had time to mature and grow up - together.

And I'd like to point out that we grew up together because ZU grouped us together. The same ZU you're now trying to belittle in such a disgusting way.
I don't know about you, but I like to acknowledge and give credit where it's due. And not just kick the same place that has nurtured me and given me the whole set of people and friends that I now feel proud to stand up and name.

Note that i wouldn't say a fraction of this if I didn't respect you. Otherwise, I wouldn;t care and would have simply ignored this thread.

For any bandwagon jumpers - think before you speak, please.

It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

After careful deliberation, I decided to join the team evacuating the planet ZU. I hope that you will not hold a grudge against me for this, but rather join us over at ZeldaInformer. This isn't just for Captain's "clique", but for anyone who won't act, in his words, "retarded".

This was my first forum and I learned a lot here. Hope to see you over there. I'll be there or still on MSN/AIM and all that.

Oh, and replying to each person to call them a clone won't change anything, Asia.

The only attatchment it seems people have is to the name "Zelda Universe." The name of which now stands for a community that I have been doing nothing but ***** about for the past couple years.

As I said, the only reason why many of us have stuck around for so long is for the friends we have made here. (And I don't mean *just* the vets, as there are new-ish members with us as well) If we can still hang out with each other in a place that lacks the problems we've had with ZU and the *rest* of its community, what is the reason to stick around ZU any longer?

How about rather than give me psuedo-intellectual statements like "giving credit where credit is due" and talking about days that are obviously long past, you answer my question.
