Re: It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

You guys seem to have this delusion that we're leaving because capn is leaving. Actually, most of us are leaving for the same reason, we just don't want to be here anymore. ZI is just a great alternative.

I'm only sticking around a couple of weeks to finish a signature competition and to tie some loose ends.

Whatever happened to the days when people who left didn't stay around a little longer just to piss and moan?

Don't know. Probably... I'd say the late nineties was when those days ended.

Re: It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

I'm pretty surprised at some of the posts in here.

I'm gonna keep it simple, so you guys will actually read what I say :0P (By "you guys", I mean the peeps staying at ZU and not leaving).

I love ZU. It's gotten to the point (in my reckoning) where it was when I first joined. Back to the "Good ol' Days". In fact, I feel that ZU is better now than it has ever been (no disrespect to Lars, naturally--a tribute, rather). I didn't think I'd see the good times roll back in here, but they're back. :0)

That said, I've also become a contributor to ZI. There, I will be setting up a section of content focused directly on the history/lore/"exploration" of Gorons. It will be called "BBD's Den", in case you're interested. I look forward to it as an opportunity to do something Zelda-related that I've wanted to for over a year, now.

I'll be here. And I'll be there.

EVERYONE'S A WINNER!!!! *throws confetti*

They ended when people started insulting everyone when they left.

Anywho, ignoring cap'n's tone, best of luck to everyone who goes to ZI, I have no grudge against people who dislike ZU and decide to make their own site.

Finally, I seem to find myself saying this far too often: People, if you have an issue with the mods or something on the site, say something. I find it puzzling to the extreme that you'd stay quite for months, only to then complain that xyz isn't good enough, when you never mentioned it.

Re: It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

A_Q's got it right.

I have no problem with you all leaving. Just do it in a nice fashion instead of cursing out ZU. It doesn't make you guys look intelligent, and it doesn't make you guys look very 'non-noobish'.

If ZU was good at first and brought you all together, and later become an infestation of n00bs, what makes you think your ZI isn't?

No grudges are held, even to those who curse at my beloved friend, Asia. I didn't know you guys very well, you might've been really cool, but I will not miss you. And with that, goodbye.

Also a final note, I do not believe ZI will be crap or VGRC is crap. But bashing a site literally pushes away all new members to this site. So in all cases, please stop this rubbish. All you are doing is making this site die faster.

Re: It's a one way ride to the end of the Universe..

All of this could have been avoided, possibly. If ZU was a little more strict on noobs perhaps this wouldn't be a problem. But it's hard when you have 10 year olds signing up who can't type or spell in order to save their life.

If only that were true, unless they fake their age. The worst are actually much older...

I'd say almost certainly not true. I notice that there are two main complaints:
1. The Mods are two harsh.
2. The mods are too strict.

Somehow I don't see us solving both of those by making one change.

I think the complain is where the mods are too strict in;

At one side you can't say 'Look at this thread', because that's advertising. Or post a video somewhere because that belongs in the youtube thread. At the other side you let people with malicious intends run around for free until they finally collected enough warning points...

In short I think the main complaint is that the mods are too strict and harsh when it comes to innapropiate discussion/slow chat or things posted in the wrong place. But aren't harsh enough when it comes to act against people.

Well if the noobs are mostly kids than they would say this forum is too strict because they don't want boundaries. They probably say the same thing to their parents.

Honestly I've been to many forums. This site has some excessive spam and noob **** because mostly the age group. Let's face it most of them aren't mature enough. So my opinon is the best way to solve this problem is start giving out warnings for spam, crappy posts, threads and even spelling. We need to teach them a lesson or they will get out of control.

For example like The Judge what are you guys waiting for? Ban him. He keeps saying "oh i'm a troll, banning won't do anything" well let's find out.

Few things.
First off, ZU has a higher level of spelling/grammar then most forums. It's hardly the best ever, but it's certainly better then most.

As for spam, warnings are given out for it. However, first warnings almost always happen via PM. This means that you don't see them. Bad posts are often deleted.

As for spelling: That would be a silly thing to enforce on most of the forum. People will improve their spelling the longer they're here (Just look at me, for example, day one I was worse then anyone you can find now) and it would be counter-productive to chase away potentially great members by temp. banning them for spelling words wrong.

If he breaks the rules, he'll be banned. Being mildly irritating at times doesn't count as breaking the rules.

The Judge is not 'mildly irritating', he is a complete and utter annoyance and is the reason why the internets fail.
