No it isn't.
When I see yOU I think "Zelda Universe", when I go to the chatroom, it's "Zelda Universe", when I see ANYONE I have come to know, like and admire on these boards, people whom have constantly taught me, listened to me and helped shape the person I am today, I think "Zelda Universe"
It is NOt just the name, but the whole package. graphic artists have learnt from one another, pushed each other to new limits and grew up together - it's not just a name.

The attachment you have to these same people you speak of is through ZU. YOUr graphic skills have grown with the help of ZU'ers - it's not just a name.

that you have found nothing better to do than "*****" about ZU community for the past couple of years is nothing - it was never a utopia, and there was ALWAYS this mixture of cool and strange, "win" and "fail". What you say proves nothing.
All you have done is, after years of cultivation of people here, scooped off the top cream and created a new forum to all go to.
I don't know about you, but I enjoy seeing people grow and mature, it's part of the process. You might know it, even brag of it, but I agree that a lot of the times you *****ed about ZU, you also helped. helping a place that has helped you is no bad thing. it's nothing that should be disgusting and unbearable.

Of course it's for the friends we've made here. And how did we make those friends? some of them we used to fight with, some we had needless drama with and disliked at first, some who grew up, matured and really proved their worth afterwards when at first all they were labelled as was "fail".

It's an ongoing process. Those friends and acquaintances didn't happen overnight. It took a long time.

You take for years and give back. And from that, you take more, and so on. that is why




EDIT - on a closing note , I am fine with you and anyone who wants to leave, to do just that. However, what I find needless is the sourness and harshness you all leave with. That is all.

Unlike many of the members who have decided to leave ZU and join the community of ZI, I am not going to leave on a harsh note (the ones who didn't know who they are). In fact, I am not going to leave at all. I am keeping my roots in Zelda Universe, but simply adding ZeldaInformer to my bookmarks and visiting both beloved sites.

Everyone, stop trying to be condescending. I know capn started this thread off on an overly-disrespectful note (although he did make disclaimers to the ones he wasn't talking about, even though the tone in general was very hostile), but please don't follow in his footsteps over it. People who are leaving and people who don't care about the people who are leaving are all trying to belittle each other. Both ends need to stop bickering like the exact age group many of you call "noobs" and say your goodbyes, or maybe just gather some screen names and wave so-long to people with a shred of decency and respect.

What's with all the undeserved hostility coming from both sides? You're all acting like this is a high school popularity contest, trying to insult and bemoan others as if you have some superiority complex to prove. It's ridiculous.

I'll come here, but only when ZI gets a bigger community going. I won't really leave on a sour note to tell the truth because despite the mass of idiots, the fascist mods, (I'm looking at you, Gerudo, Lioness, and Jehanne. They were fine members before they became mods.) and the "trolls", there are still some people on here that I generally respect that aren't moving over to ZI. Just expect me to lurk moar.

Cry not over the e-drama that both sides are making people, just move along to the back of the bus.

Well damn, it's been a fun ride. Unfortunately that plesurable ride has long-gone since I first joined back in 2005. I'm pretty much leaving due to the constant flaws of this forum and member behavior.

About every other week we see somekind of huge drama go down and not that funny drama, the retarded and annoying, drama. It's becoming too annoying to even bear attention to anymore. And like other people that are leaving, I'm going to ZI, where hopefully it will be a more pleasant forum with trouble that is taken care of properly.

Most of the members here are just 27/7 spammers, that contribute nothing to a thread and eagerly just want an increase on post count. Also many members are complaining too much for most unprovakative reasons, a prime example is "I want my CR, why do have to wait?" or "Why is ZU not loading on Monday?" (When I think it's been made in announcements and the thread is made usually every 2weeks). Furthermore chances of having a good debate anymore have decreased to about 20%. I can barely constitute myself in a debate without it turning into a big debacle of "Who has the bigger balls to temptate the mods into closing this thread". Honestly these things get to a point where they piss people off royaly.

To further complicate matters, some mods are just somewhat extremist. The reason I say this is once I had a 3 or so paragraphs in a thread and it got deleted. And guess what? I wasn't even confronted or PMed at all. I can understand a small troll post with little-to-no contribution to the thread, but 3 or so paragraphs that actually helped with the thread's discussion? What a blatant joke. This has happened to me 3 times.

And finally a complaint for the sec I frequent here. General Gaming: You can't go through any threads without finding; "teh M$ are complte lsers, w/ a suxy game consle" without any further disgression or explanation as to why the make these bold claims. Also every thread about the PS3, turns into a thread of "Wii vs Xbox 360 vs. PS3" Even when that PS3 topic is about "The PS3 is getting a firmware upgrade" total dickery and I'm tired of it.

I could go longer, but I want to leave this place as soon as possible.

I don't know much about CC, and what I do know isn't good. Surely ZU won't suffer from his leaving.

Whenever someone makes a thread complaining about the status of the community, invariably a member says "If you don't like it, leave."

Usually, this statement is frowned upon by many. Why leave? Why not stay and try to improve the community, rather than abandon it? I am not one of those many.

While helping to build to make things better is "better" response, it is more likely that any member convinced to stick around would still look down on the community, and rather than help make it better, would become negative and jaded by the whole thing, in turn making things worse. I've said before that the biggest problem with ZU, in my eyes, is the negativity. I don't look down or even mildly dislike any members who are, in my eyes, negative. It's always been easy for me to accept that their views are true, just presented in a less than ideal way by my own standards. Unconstructive criticisms, if you will.

But I've always felt they were better off leaving. To stick around a place you don't particularly like is just plain idiotic. I will actually commend the Cap'n, as well as all the others involved in creating the new site, in not just leaving in a huff, or sticking around and being unhappy. They took a leap and decided to try something new.

Many integral members of this community appear to be leaving today, apparently for good. It will be a blow to the community, and what happens next is uncertain. I know my own future, as soon as I read Cap'ns post I knew what my own actions were. I stay. For the simple fact that ZU is the only community I am active at. I'm a member of two other forums, and between the two have less than five hundred posts over a combined total of four years, less than I had hear at my least active. ZU, for me, is "my home" on the internet, the only place where I interact with other members of the online world. When I join other forums, I quickly see that the vast majority of discussions I've already taken part in here, so why bother posting the exact same things there? I'm just lazy like that. My own fault, really.

I have an account at VGRC, so it is quite possible that I will pop in from time to time, but for now and the forseeable future, I will simply bid all leaving members adieu, and good luck.

Those are pretty much my thoughts. I put them here 'cause this seems to be the hub of discussion on this topic.
