Re: Cracked My Sternum...
It's not that bad, I've had thing broken in my body before. What happened was, I was going for the supe plez (however you spell it) and the guy reached around and grabbed me by my shoulders, I let my arms go a lil limp and let go of his gut and tryed to pull myself out, at the same time he's pulling me in, eventually the crack came, kinda like a nut crusher thinger ma bob...(painkiller sin effect)

Re: Cracked My Sternum...
It would be painful, be thankful your ribcage held and everything under it is alright.
Just expect to feel quite a bit of pain when others are doing CPR on you (of which you can't, since your knocked out and need to get your blood circulating again..) |

Re: Cracked My Sternum...
I heard the Sternum is an easy thing to break. I havevn't had any broken bones (I've been lucky
) so I don't really know what the pain is like. Do you have to wear anything over your skin or anything like that? The Sternums in your chest right? I don't know what you have to do for it to heal.

Re: Cracked My Sternum...
Yeah, the sternum is the hunk of bone connecting your ribcage at the front. During CPR, you have to depress the ripcage, including the sternum, in order to do a full compression. Sometimes, you can push too hard and even crack a piece of the sternum off.

Re: Cracked My Sternum...
Yep, Mega Man, good posture is key for getting every last bit out of the air in your lungs.
Sounds painful. I'll be sure not to do that in case I get in that position in Judo. (did you mean suplex? how drugged up are you?). But I doubt it, people try to be all "sophisticated" in Judo, they never give us enough mat time.... but I'm ranting now... How long till you are healed?

Re: Cracked My Sternum...
Doctor never told me, I'm definately out for the seaon though (which sucks because I'm in grade 11 and only have one more year unless I fail English next year) And...yea that's what I meant, a suplex, I'm normally known for proper grammar. But, I'm thinking of getting a tensor bandage to wrap around my chest. The doctor recomended it, but, the hospital in Kelowna was out >: \

Re: Cracked My Sternum...
Which bone is the Sternum? Sorry, I just suck at Biology...
Anyway, I'm thirteen and never broken a bone. Even though I've jumped off a shed roof and onto a bed matress (only sprained my ankle), got knocked down by a car on a very big hill (just got deep scratches and cuts), and I'm sure I could think of quite a few. And still I've never broken a bone. But I kinda wanna break my arm. I've always wanted a cast. ![]()

Re: Cracked My Sternum...
It ain't biology, its the anatomy of the human body.
![]() This is your sternum. You compress the lower part of this bone during CPR. |
