Re: GROUNDED FOR THE SUMMER!

Basically, there's no point for you to be swimming if you have no talent for it, then?

Re: GROUNDED FOR THE SUMMER!

Final conclusion: Your parents have a mental illness and you'll just have to deal with it for 8 more years. Go out, play with some friends. Nuff' said.

Re: GROUNDED FOR THE SUMMER!

When my parents feel the need to punish me, they usually take away my books. :glare Now that's a punishment.

Sometimes I believe their reason for punishing me is unfair (which is common among teenagers), but I learn to deal with it (to be honest, I believe my dad does have somewhat of a mental illness; not anything significant, though).

You have a stupid family, no offense.

H20, there is nothin you can do. I still do not know how you 'fail' a swim class just because you do not have the art to swim.

Just suck it up. Make some friends. And go outside.

I am the douche? The kid asked for help and you mock him by saying "pwned", if I were him - I would find that kind of rude.

I got a "D" on my P.E. exam one year for the same reason. Well, I just have to say I graduated with a 3.89 GPA (4.0 scale) and am going to the 7th best public college in country. There's just something stupid about P.E. requirements that really grind my gears. It's not like I don't exercise, because I do. It's not like I'm fat either. I know I could cream a ton of people's swimming/running scores, so why did I have to get a "D" on the exam?

It's just stupid, and my parents understood that. So should yours. There's no point in torturing a child when they did their best.

If dann's (with no capital letter!) favorite hobby is to read, then a good punishment is would be to take books away.

I wanted to share this with you:

I'd advise you to stop acting like a child and grow up.
I can also take that as a threat and report you. But I am just going to let you on your merry little way.

I know, but when someone threatens me to jump off a cliff simply because I stated his post was spammy and had nothing to do with the topic - that can piss me off.

Edit: Sorry for this post not being on topic.

Maybe you parents didn't mean the whole summer. They don't want you in the house the whole time. They'll lighten up in a 2-3 weeks.

Swim like a Zora then. If you can't try convincing your parents that you tried your best.

Plenty. Especially in the urban/suburban parts of New York. Hell, I used to do it.

Re: GROUNDED FOR THE SUMMER!

Would you like to explain some more why you didn't pass swimming class? My feeling is that the only way to get your parents lift your VG-ban is to learn to swim.

To share...I myself didn't learn how to swim until the age of 15 (very old, I know...). At the beginning I was afraid of letting go of the pool rim---I could float but would panick when there is nothing to grab onto. One thing they teach you to do in swim class is to kick off from the wall and float straight ahead. I could kick-off, but would panick mid-float and end up choking and standing up. Well, anyway, one day when practicing, I just kind of emptied my mind and thought "if anything goes wrong just stand up, nothing to panick about", and...it just clicked, I floated without panicking! The rest was easy.

I'm no expert swimmer now, but that was the bottleneck for me and how I got past it. You should give it another try, go practice on your own, and...if needed, grab a grown-up to show you. Not sure if this is what you're asking for, but I think since it's the root of your punish it might be the best way to lift it.
