YouTube Getting Rid Of Anime???

Hey everyone!
I was just browsing my favourite music videos on YouTube, and I noticed on a lot of the anime vids that there's this message:

"STOP YOUTUBE!!! For your information, Youtube is getting rid of all Anime videos.Every night at 10:00p.m. they have a maintenence that deletes any videos that are Anime...To stop Youtube from doing this, You need to get enough people to Protest...To do this, please help by Copying and Pasting this message to all of the Anime Videos from being deleted.

And dont blame me if this isnt true"

What do you guys think? Honestly, even if it is true, I think it's a good thing YouTube is getting rid of the anime videos. The fan-made videos I think definitely need to stay, but the actual anime episodes should go. It's illegal to put episodes of anime online without the creators' permission. Besides, it's just not right to the creators because they're trying to make a profit (and might I add a living!) from the anime they produce. Keep the fan-made videos, lose the actual anime. That's my opinion, anyway (don't get me wrong. I am a HUGE fan of anime. I go to AX every year for crying out loud!). What do you guys think???

If they were to get rid of the anime episodes, they would have to get rid of ALL of the various music videos, tv shows, and any other copyrighted material. Getting rid of just one genre would be stupid. It is either all or none.

EDIT: Yeah, that's true about the music videos. But are the copyright laws really that strict about fan-made things? I mean, you have to put a disclaimer up and everything, but that just proves it's fan-made and has no affiliation with the anime or music artist. >.< So confused......

Anime is a show genre. Alot of shows are on Youtube. If they get rid of one genre wouldn't they have to get rid of them all? I mean, equality right? Alot of those Fan-made videos of anime things are hard to make. If Youtube gets rid of them it'd piss alot of people off. All their hard work gone down the drain. It'd be said, and a waste. Do they really wanna piss alot of their members off? Youtube admins should reconsider this.. "maintence".

Maybe because some people are trying to put hentai on the site. So maybe if they god rid of anime and banned it from Youtube there would be no hentai? That's just some thing that popped into my head.

Dark_Dragon: I think you misunderstood me. I love the fan-made videos, and I want THOSE to stay. I'm talking about the actual anime episodes (ex. Orphen episode 1, Inuyasha episode 2, etc.) should go because those are copyrighted. But then, I guess the fan-made videos are copyrighted? But I don't see the big deal with fan-made videos being copyrighted: most of the time the makers put disclaimers, so it's ok, right??? Sorry if I confused you....

They're always getting rid of anime. As soon as they find an episode it's gone, along with the rest of the series. If you want to watch anime since the takeover, go to somewhere like Veoh.com or tv-links.co.uk.

Well then, yeah, Grim_Reaper. I can see them getting rid of Hentai. But what about the rest? It's just so weird....

This is BS. It's clearly BS because there are videos marked "Anime" that remain up for longer than one day. Case closed.

A particularly amusing example. Added eight months ago - last message on it. The best part is that if it doesn't get deleted the guy posting that will take credit for pronouncing the truth loudly. Nevermind that it survived eight months without him. Chobits added 1 year ago. Chobits seems like something they would take down were they taking it down (of course, there wouldn't be hundreds of pages of anime listed if they were taking it down at 10:00pm every night, would there?).

It's just one of those annoying chain letters that have gained popularity on Youtube thanks to how the commenting system works. It's about as BS as the "Microsoft will pay you ten thousand dollars for every person you forward this to" email.

They might not be deleting every anime every 10PM, but they do delete a lot of anime. I've watched as most of my subscriptions lost all their videos or were banned.

Well, if it's true, we can all take solace in the fact that youtube did something right for once.

This sounds more like a Myspace chain letter than a statement by Youtube's maintenance board. It screams fertilizer so I doubt it's true.
