Commandments for Driving

Quote:
The Ten Commandments for road use are as follows:

1. You shall not kill.
2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.
3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.
4. Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.
5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.
6. Charitably convince the young and not-so-young not to drive when they are not in a fit condition to do so.
7. Support the families of accident victims.
8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.
9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.
10. Feel responsible towards others.

Anyone else find it funny that the vatican felt the need to make Commandmants for driving?

Re: Commandments for Driving

I do think this is a little odd. However, if it helps give some drivers incentive for learning situational awareness while driving, then it can't hurt, right?

Some of these commandments are ambiguous. Like the 7th one... do you think it means that the community should financially support the families of folks who have been injured in a car accident? Why is that different from families of accident victims from non-car related accidents?

:/

Interesting, anyway.

It is when you drive an F-350.

Re: Commandments for Driving

You didn't say anything about the sin part, Captain. Is there a document that goes along with the list so that it's not so ambiguous? I mean, I can take that part about sin to mean a lot of different things.

But I guess if they're all sinful then it doesn't matter.

Re: Commandments for Driving

Allowing my grandmother on the road is a sin in itself.

Re: Commandments for Driving

They do have 35 page document on it. Heres a quote.

Quote:
The Vatican today published a 35-page document detailing proper road use and the rules of car ownership. The centerpiece of the "Guidelines for the Pastoral Care of the Road" is a collection of 10 "commandments" for drivers.
I take the sin part to mean no backseat sex.
