Re: anyone paintball?

Airsoft is pretty much replicas of actual firearms (like the M4, MP5a2 or the Beretta 9SF), and changes the mechanism so it can fire BB pellets rather than actual bullets.

Most of the time it has working parts and actions, like cocking, charging, detatchable magazines, bolts and slide-actions.
They can be fired off by either a spring (the weapon has to be cocked then fired), air-pressure (generated by batteries), or electricity. Generally Electric Airsoft guns (commonly called AEGs) can fire fully automaticlly at a rate of 250 or more RPM.

Their illegal in Australia, and some parts of Canada

Haha, me and my friends always used to play with airsoft guns.

I had two marksman pistols and one daisy rifle, but I no longer have them. They were taken away from me by my father for misbehaving with them, and I never got them back. I haven't touched any other guns since then.

But at least I got a lot of use out of them before they were taken away.

When I was 10, me my friends were stupid, so we would constantly shoot each other with our guns. Even though it was painful and we got lots of tiny bruises with the occasional blood and broken skin, we still constantly shot each other. Our favorite thing to do was play a game called capture the tree. The motive of the game was to capture the enemy's tree by climbing up to a certain, high up branch of that tree. How do you stop the enemy from getting in your tree? Shoot them off the tree while they were climbing up to the special branch. Let me mention again, we were stupid.

During one game, my team mates went on the offensive, and I was left alone to guard our tree. After a little while of waiting alone, I spotted two enemy team members approaching my tree. I started pumping pellet after pellet at them, but all I had was my crappy, single pump daisy rifle that didn't shoot very far, and the wind really messed up my accuracy. The two enemies returned fired, and I ducked down to avoid getting hit. I was terrified, so I focused all my attention on the two approaching enemies. That was a bad idea, because a third enemy team member was approaching from behind me. He got to about 4 feet away from me and shot me in the back. I was startled, so I dropped my gun and immediately fell down and twisted over onto my back. By that time, the other two enemies got to the tree. I was captured. Everyone had their rifles pointed at me, there was nothing I could do.

But luckily two of my team mates returned shortly after and tried to save me. However, the enemy team thought it would be funny to take me hostage to prevent them from approaching further. They took a weak marksmen pistol from my coat and stuck the barrel into my mouth. They then shouted that I would "get it" if they didn't back away. They were laughing the entire time while I felt nothing but pure terror and misery. But my stupid team mates ignored their warnings and started approaching anyways. And, like the enemy promised, I "got it". The roof of my mouth was shot by the pistol, and I colapsed on the ground. Then an enemy team member quickly jumped up into the tree and got to the special branch, thus winning the game for his team.

I didn't get hurt, it was a very weak pistol, I just felt a hard "THUD!" at the roof of my mouth. I was laying on the ground simply because I was shocked.

Re: anyone paintball?

The Airsoft gun I really want is M4 ACOG.

You can also modify your Airsoft weapon as if it were the real thing. You know, stuff like optic sights (scopes), laser sights, reflex sights, flashlights, bipods and a whole heap more.

Ever seen a BB gun in the shape of a machine gun? Well this one has been converted.

You can get a spring slide action gun for about $15-$80, used ones are even cheaper and can run as low as $5.

I had two Marksman 1010 air pistols (the same type of gun I got shot in the mouth with). They're powerful, but the accuracy is horrible. It doesn't matter how well you can shoot, because when the springs slide back, the whole gun moves. It's also really, really heavy.

Since the accuracy is bad, I would chase my targets until I got about 5-2 feet away from them and shoot them in their backs. They hurt, and lots of kids didn't want to play with me because I had this attacking habit.

You can still hit someone from about 15 feet away without problems, but you can never predict where the pellet will hit them. If you shoot for their back, you might accidently get their head.

Spring pistols are great for games, but bad for target practice. If you're not into shooting people, get a gas pistol, they run from anywhere between $25-$200. You get what you pay for, ones under $50 probably break easily.

Re: anyone paintball?

Get the slightly more expensive AEGs if your serious about the sport, a standard Beretta M9 AEG would cost around $49us, depending on the manufactuer. Just don't get no-name brands of Airsoft, or else your gonna get ripped off by its shoddy quality.

Heh, I should have just left it to you.

My knowledge of airsofts is way, way obsolete and isn't of any value.

Airsoftpro.net seems really useful if you're looking to buy a gun, and they have animations, so you can see exactly what you're purchasing.

I edited it my last post, but here it is again:

www.airsoftpro.net

That seems to be the best source of airsoft information, and also offers the best guns for sale.

If you want to shoot your neighbor occasionally, I suggest you go with spring. They don't hurt as much.

Isn't this the cutest thing ever? It's the Micro Uzi, and it's only $30. It's spring, so the bolt must be pulled back with every shot. Even though slide action guns have horrible accuracy, it still looks terribly fun. It looks like the perfect gun for games, I'd love to chase someone around with one of these. I'm thinking about trying to get my dad to buy me one.

Re: anyone paintball?

Another pretty nifty site is www.redwolfairsoft.com
It has a even larger range, from SMGs, Machine guns, Assault Rifles, Spring Action, AEGs, Grenade Launchers (!), "sniper" BB systems, accessories like scopes, lasers, flashlights, adaptors, handgrips, slings and comforters.

Doesn't that look pleasant?
