Things You Didn't Catch Onto at First But You Now Love...

When Harry Potter first came out, I thought it was -really- stupid. I didn't start liking it until a few months before the second movie came out, and I totally fell in love with it. Similarly, I didn't care for Lord of the Rings much until about three weeks ago, and now I'm completely obsessed.

On the same note (but not quite), I was literally FORCED to see Pirates of the Carribean, and now it's one of my favourite movies.

British Comedy (i hate to say it, but i HATED 'Holy Grail' and other such works of brilliance at first... ^^, but caught on soon enough)...

Salads (or any other food containing only vegetables... i'm still a picky brat when it comes to salads, but at least i try them now... ^^... it's all in the dressing, though...)

my sister's taste in music/pretty much all folk (it literally took three weeks straight of me being in a car to actually pull my head out of a book and listen to it properly... ^^)

Indian Food (took me eight years to get used to that stuff, it did... ^^... but i was HOOKED as soon as i actually found out what it was like)

Speaking of Harry Potter, I thought that it was horrible, but then I read it, and I couldn't stop, even though I consider it to be somewhat childish. I haven't read the latest book, but I probably will.

Hmm...I used to always flame Halo for being over-rated, but after playing it on my friend's XBox, I fell in love with it, and picked it up for the PC.

I also used to hate realistic-style drawing (shameless plug), but I started doing it a couple of months ago (I was horrible at it, of course), but now I'm improving and I'm getting more interested in it. It's still heavily manga-influcenced, but I like the mix of styles.

Can't really think of anything else off-hand, but I'm sure there's more stuff.

For the first 12 years of my life I could barely tolerate the Beatles.
Needless to say I found the error of my ways.

Classical music (and by that I mean baroque and romantic too )-- Same story as with the Beatles.

That's all I can think of right now..

Re: Things You Didn't Catch Onto at First But You Now Love...

lord-of-shadow. No, just joking. I used to hate the GameBoy consoles/portables, because I thought the fact that you had to buy batteries all the time was just stupid. Still, I got myself a GameBoy Color, and some years later I got myself GameBoy Advance SP (last summer).

Ehm... I also used to hate RPGs... But unfortunately, that is still the case. I'm trying, but...

Well, can't think of anything more. Oh wait, I can. I used to despise paté, but now I find it to be quite tasty.

i used to ignore the matrix (shocked, people?), then i saw it at a friends house, just before reloaded came out in the cinema, and i fell in love with it. i saw reloaded first day, and i saw revolutions first day too, though i had to jump my own back fence to get away in time. and i didnt not like it, but i didnt notice this; in reloaded neo does this cool landing on the roof of where the oracle is meant to be in the beggining after fighting the agents. i didnt notice it but when i did i thought it was so cool, i might take a pic and make a sig with it.

Re: Things You Didn't Catch Onto at First But You Now Love...

I used to hate n00bs. But I still do. However I used to despise of anybody new to the forums but now I discovered they are quite nice and maybe even better than the locals. When LotR Fellowship of the Ring came out I thought it would be stupid, because I never even heard of the books. But then I saw it and the other movies and I have fallen in love with it. My three favorite movies. I used to think Harry Potter was cool but now I hate it. I actually hated seafood but now I love it. When I first had a chance to rent OoT I didn't because I wanted to get something else and thought it wasn't going to be that great. But then I rented it and fell in love with the series. And I never really thought girls were gross. I always and still do like girls. And theres probably a lot more.

Re: Things You Didn't Catch Onto at First But You Now Love...

Harry Potter. I just said (and my mother and several of my friends can back me up on this) I'd never get into it. Now I have all five books written so far, the two movies that have been released on DVD, and planning on seeing the third when it comes out.

Digimon. Although it's been a while since I saw it, I always said that Digimon was a rip-off of Pokemon. *shrugs*

Well I didn't like the internet at first, now I can't stop using it. thats one of the biggest things. Oh, like Leo I hated seafood and in the past year I have eaten more than in my whole life. I think I'll stop though, we found a few worms in fish from the same supermarket, never going there again.

Re: Things You Didn't Catch Onto at First But You Now Love...

I never liked Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter... And I still don't, never will...

Well, Mario, I used to think he was just some junkie in overalls and a red hat and used to think when ever I saw him, "Who the ***** jumps on turtles and shouts 'hoo-hoo' whilst doing it."... But then I decided to fight as him on Super Smash Brothers: Melee, and mario party 5, and now I think he's the coolest Italian ever to hit a gaming console... which he is.

And a few things I probably shouldn't say on here...

Re: Things You Didn't Catch Onto at First But You Now Love...

....you can probably guess what I'll say

Yes, I used to NOT like LOTR. It confuzzled me waaay to much, 'cause I thought the plot was too in-depth, and I didn't understand it. I first became introduced to it while watching FOTR at my friends house, and at that time, the only person I liked was Legolas, for his resemblance to Link. I remember alwasys forgetting Legolas's name..........................

But as you can see now, I am in fact a LOTR fanatic.

.......then there's Pokemon. When it first came out..........I don't know what I thought X_X.....but in September 2000 I was HOOKED. Lukcily I'm not anymore and my only association with Pokemon is selling all of my Pokemon junk to small children >=)

Mario games. 2D and 3D. But I still haven't really caught onto them all the way yet..and I certainly don't LOVE them. 7_7
Let's see. The Animorphs series. At first I thought they would be kind of stupid but I couldn't put it down after I read one book...
Adobe Photoshop!! There was just so many different buttons to look at it took me forever to sort it all out. Now I love it.
Star wars videos, because the episodes seemed all mixed up (like the older videos were actually the 'newer' in the video series...and queen amidala was actually padme or whatever).
Final Fantasy. It still confuses me, actually. I can't catch up to ALL THOSE EPISODES!!

Re: Things You Didn't Catch Onto at First But You Now Love...

I bunch of animes I can't remember the names off...

Kedisar. No joke, most of you knwo though, me and him used to have a big fued, but now we've calmed down a lot. We're not exactly buds, but we don't hate each other anymore.

Here's another. And believe me I am saying the God honest truth about this. I used to despise Kishin. I swear I couldn't stand the guy. I swera we walked to each other once on AIM, and by the second I was dishing out vulgar words and insulting the guy like he's the scum of the earth. This was during PZ's school era, son that was a long time ago...

But now it's not like that at all. We talk once in a while, and I love the guy. Heck so much every single time I see him I still say I can kcik his butt ^_^

Zelda.. when I played OoT I hated the crap out of it and wanted to burn it (I was used to the 2D ones.. and my brother liked it and started befor me and was farther so I chose to hate it) then He got it, I played it, beat the piss out of it the second time through... now I enjoy 3D Zeldas more than 2d...

oh and Kedisar... it was because of him I made rash decisions which ended up Banning me... but he isn't like he was a couple months ago so now things are cool imo, I dno how he feels bout it... he doesnt call me cumpuddle anymore so I assume..... -__-
