Subconscious or Relative Memories -- Which is more painful?

Everyone has a memory or more that they miss. And the fact of the matter is its sad that you do not know what you have until you do not have it anymore. So which kind of memory makes you miss your olden days more? A memory that is subconscious (one from days before you could have much thought, or one that you didnt even realize was going on at the time), or one that is relative (relatable, one that you can remember living through, and now miss the moment)? Discuss your opinions here.

I'd say that subconscious memories are more painful, because you may regret what you have done or what you haven't done and should have done. It occurs in my head alot of times, but there is nothing I can do about it, it's in the past and always will be.

But you wouldnt remember what the memory is, its just something that plagues you. So I see your point. With me, usually when I question what that plauging pain is, it goes away. Because I do not have an answer, and therefore no reason for it to plague me.

Re: Subconscious or Relative Memories -- Which is more painful?

I prefer subconcious memories. I'm really done with thinking of the "old days", it's pointless and painful and will not do you any good.

Though I admit I can't help but to think of the "good old days" at some rare occasions, but I prefer to stay away from it as much as possible.

I consider it a type of pathetic self-pity, you could say...

How is it a type of self-pity to observe your past? To logically make decisions one must embrace all aspects of their life; an observation of the future, present, and especially the past.

Relative memories. Was there ever a good old day? Anyway, If I were to reminisque and see the past is better than the present, it would be counter-productive, hmm?

I live in the now. Therefore those moments of magic that once were and mattered, yet I recall them as but a shade upset me more. If you don't concentrate on remembering something, it just slips through your fingers. And yet I still remeber what happened in that TV show once. How sad.

Observing the past is something else, I was talking about looking back at the past as something very superior to the present.

In terms of knowledge, it may be.

Subconscious because you know that something happened but cant remeber. It its like a part of you that you cant recall something that you missed.
