Fists are my favourite Martial Arts weapons. They're so easy to find, and they feel like an extension of your body.

Bo

(click here for definition)

{EDIT: Granted, as Galedeep points out below, learning to use weapons generally happens after years of training. I didn't stay with Aikido long enough to learn how to use the bo, but it's still my favorite.}

Back when I took karate, when you got to purple belt, you were trained how to use a bo staff. That was pretty cool. But when you got to brown you got to chose from three weapons which you wanted to learn next. I picked Sai's, cause they are my favourite. Why? Because Raphael is the best ninja turtle. Obviously.

Re: What is your favourite Martial Art weapon?

Katanas all the way! My friend joined this league of black belts where you can train with all these different weapons, theres even apparently one where you have to break limbs to get points and stuff.

With Katans, theres style points and points for flinching your oppenent. Haha, too bad their private, but its still funny becuase my friend usually breaks atleast one of his ribs everytime he goes Ofcourse, they are dulled,

But yes, other than that...the bo staff or quarter staff.

Re: What is your favourite Martial Art weapon?

I've trained withe Escrima Sticks, Nunchuku, Jo Staffs and Sais. My favourite being the Bo Staff, because my Jo staff is light, fast and powerful. While Sais are heavy and hard perform accurate jabs, Nunchukus are somewhat hard to control (atleast in my dicipline which requires quick snappy hits) and escrima sticks are just plain boring.

What I loved about watching people use the Bo is how fluid it is - - it's just beautiful. Like dancing, in a way. But most of Aikido's that way, I guess.

Gun and jian. I'm a bit curious as to why every person so far likes their Japanese weapons =P

Here's a video of me playing around with both.

Re: What is your favourite Martial Art weapon?

My favourites would have to be the bo, the sai and the kama. Overall I would have to say the bo, I have been learning about it for a while and I am getting pretty good.

Re: What is your favourite Martial Art weapon?

I'd take a broadsword over a katana, personally. A six foot bo staff is pretty fun too, and as has been mentioned- it looks awesome.

Nice thing about weapons martial arts is that (mostly) anything can become a weapon. Just grab a broom and show 'em you mean business.
