And the winner is...

The U.S.-lead Coalition forces against the now captured Sadaam Huesain. They got him 6pm Baghdad time today. The biggest reason that there was stil resistance in that country is now no longer able to instill fear of backlash for those that cooporate with the U.S. forces. The main reason that there was stil resistance was from the people that feared he would be able to come back into power, now that is no longer a possibility.

For when the time comes I think the best way to deal with him would be through a tribunial by the new governing body in Iraq, and another one by the coalition forces. Iraqis can get him for damaging the country and killing his people, the other would deal with the killing of his people. I think the last thig that should happen to him though is that he be sentanced to death, unless by public stoning really, it is better that he live the rest of his llife in some cell in pure shame and failure.

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

*****!

*turns on news*

...damn, that's great. They finally got him. I'm not so sure if he really posed a threat anymore, but it's a huge symbolic victory. This wil definetly be a huge morale booster for the US troops, but this may even increase violence agains the US tropps stationed in Iraq.

Good job, though. They've finally managed to put a purpose to the millions of dollars they've spent.

*hopes this won't turn into another Savage Nation*

Heh, wouldn't it be funny if they had just captured a double? :p

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

Amazing news. Im so happy that we have got him. Now, the war has really ended. He has been captured.

Well, as my father said only Bin Laden is left now. Even if he is still alive!

But he looks like he has been hiding in a tunnel, because he's grown a hell of alot of facial hair. He must of been in hiding this whole time!

Actually they found him in a hole covered in dirt with bricks layed over it and a breathing tube coming out somewhere. He looks like ******** for sure, but when you lead a life on the run and in hiding thats what happens.

As for incresed violence, i doubt it. Violence is there when they have something to fear. They feared Sadaam, not the U.S. troops or at least not nearly as much. All that there is left for the resistance to do is put down their arms and return to life. The troops aren't going to go around killing people that aren't fighting. They were more afraid that when Sadaam came back he would kill those that weren't fighting.

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

It's interesting, isn't it, that Bush can now point to the capture and say, "See? It worked. The war was a success. Vote for me!" I know that's overly cynical, but... come on. Just when American support for the actions in Iraq was at its lowest, and over 100 American soldiers were killed after 'major combat' had been declared over... what a sudden windfall for Bush and his administration. Makes him look like a hero. People will now forget that Bush cut imminant danger pay and family separation pay for soldiers in Iraq, I'll wager, though I wonder how many people knew about that to begin with.

Something else - Iraqi people are sort of divided on the Sadaam issue. Of course he was a tyrannt when in power, but I heard on the news (Canadian news), that while some people are celebrating, a lot are sort of indifferent. One was quoted as saying, 'When Sadaam was in power, we had jobs, we had water, we had electricity." The state of the new Iraq is dire, and I don't think Sadam's capture will make a lick of difference, even if it means the resistance weakens.

Time will tell, I suppose.

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

Place Saddam in the middle of Baghdad so the people can humiliate him would be good enough.

Bin Laden isn't the only one left. I predict there are more to come. If there was no evil, you're talking about an ideal world which is impossible.

Still, good to see that one of the major targets are finally caught.

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

We finally got saddam, now we have to get his right hand man, i cant remember his name... And Osama Bin Laden. This turns everything around, Bush will definitly get re-elceted, and more and more peopoe are going to support the war. (They should have supported it in the first place tho..) But this war is by no means over. There is still alot left to be done. O yeah, he was caught by Tikrit, his home town for those who didnt know.

Hmmm what else... Oh yeah, now all the people who didnt help into the war, i.e. FRANCE, are going to look really stupid.

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

i think they should lock him up in a pitch-black room and feed him twice a day through a door slot and only let him out once a day to use the restroom - the death penalty IMHO is still cruel, even if it is saddam...

two wrongs don't make a right, so killing him would just be another death

as aragorn said in LOTR - the two towers: "Too much blood has been spilled on his account."

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

I think he deserves the death penalty. I'm sorry windwakinfool, but i think we should just get rid of him, get him the hell outa everything by killing him in the end. Then we wouldnt have to worry about him ever again. I dunno i just think it would be better to get rid of him, and alot of people would like to see it.

Even though 2 wrongs do not make a right

Re: Official Saddam's Capture Thread

i understand, but i still think killing for any purpose is wrong...

even if i were defending myself, i wouldn't kill anyone

maybe incapacitate them, though...
