A Tale of Three ZUers and One Beantown

Welcome friends, to the biggest event since sliced bread. That's right, a tale of movies, food, and all-around goofiness. I am, of course, talking about the meeting of three ZU greats, myself, andi, and BigGoronSword.

The story begins in three separate houses, but you already knew that. We all had agreed to meet in a public scene, which happened to be in Boston, Massachusetts, a city of history. I took the train from the North Shore of Massachusetts into Boston, which was a fun hour drive. I met up at North Station (which is also the TD Banknorth Garden) with andi, who had driven in from her house in her jeep. She would be my guide around Boston, since I am not very beantown savvy. We took the green line (for you, that's a public subway system) to the Cambridge Side Galleria (a giant mall like structure) to try and find Marco, or BGS as you know him. We went to Borders to meet him. At first we didn't see him, but then we recognized a big guy walking towards us. Interesting enough, my height became the first topic of choice in this meeting.

After a discussion of what to do, we headed off for the T train to head to Downtown Crossing. We were to see a movie (Children of Men) at a Loews/AMC Theater. This is where we started taking pictures for all of you to view.

This is me. We were standing at the station waiting for the train to board.

This is me and BGS. I believe andi said something silly and we both started laughing.

And this is me just being silly as usual.

This is andi. Well, this is andi trying to hide from the camera. There are more picture of her later

This is BGS trying to scare you. Did he do the job?

So we took the T to the AMC Theater. We ascended the multistory theater (which I would like to point out, I have never seen before).

This is a very out of focus photo of me and BGS ascended the escalator to the movie.

This is an overhead view. Andi ascended the escalator and was standing on one foot. This, of course, after she almost fell down the escalator. But I didn't say that.

This is during the movie. Andi is trying to be gangsta, and me just being laid back.

We finished the movie (which, through my perspective, was really thrilling. I would suggest you go see it if you get a chance). We decided that eating would be the next logical thing to do. We decided to walk to the Corner Mall food court, which is near the State House of Boston. I went the very simple route and got a sub. Andi and BGS decided to go the more exotic route (and I couldn't tell you what they ate. I forgot).

(From now on it's links for you people).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0481.jpg - here's BGS showing off his cuisine.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0483.jpg - Here's andi posing for the camera.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0484.jpg - And here's andi trying to distract me from my sub. I won the battle, of course

It was then back on the train to Harvard square.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0486.jpg

Those are andi on the train down to Harvard Square. It was here that BGS thought it would be cool to visit Tokyo Kid, a anime store I belive it was. The thing was, it closed just as we got there. So, we went to Newbury Comics and went through there. Then, we decided to go downstair and sit and relax. Also, andi needed to teach some card techniques that I could use at Foxwoods (a casino) later in the year.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0487.jpg - This is andi teaching me some card techniques. If you must know, she was teaching me how to count cards. I still need to practice.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0488.jpg - This is BGS looking scary for the camera again.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0489.jpg - (The image at the top of the thread) Us being in typical tourist fashion and asking someone else to take our picture. Ironic, because we aren't tourists.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0490.jpg - This is andi hugging BGS after he went to buy us some Nintendo Mints. He didn't have to, but apparently he is a very nice Goron.

We decided then that the day must end. I had to get back home, andi and BGS did as well. We headed off for the train again, but before we did, we decided to pay homage to SuperDecimal. BGS had a bright idea and here are the pictures of that homage.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0492.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0493.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...n/CIMG0494.jpg

Homage to muffins indeed.

We headed down the train back to andi's car, drove BGS home, got lost around the suburbs of Boston, finally found the highway, and andi was nice enough to drive me back home. After that, I assume she got home since she posted these pics.

There you have it. A day of fun indeed. Hope you enjoyed my tale of epic proportions. Now, you can get back to your lifes. Nothing to see here.

You're never allowed to touch my camera again. Jesus, it's got smudges and Irish all over it.

:3 it's had Irish on it for a damn good long time, dear.

And the smudges are just the Indian food I had that day - they'll wash off.

That's cool. I'll bring my own next time. Don't worry about me and my Irish ever again.

Re: A Tale of Three ZUers and One Beantown

Oh man. Thanks. Now I have a desire to go eat muffins.....But the student store is closed for maintenance....now I have to go all the way to starbucks (is it even open? maybe safeway is...). Muffins aside looks like the three of you had a plethora of fun and amusing memories.

EDIT: Before I go on an epic hunt for muffins this late at night, I must ask how was Children of Men?

Epic indeed. Its always cool to see members getting together in real life. I think it would be really akward though, I dont know if I would ever do it.

Meh, I probably would. XD

This reminds me, I need to see children of men, it looks really good.

Awesomely British, and one of the most brutal movies I've seen in a while. I haven't really winced over any character's deaths in a movie for quite some times, but this one made me very sad... ;___;

Which, of course, makes it a good movie. Well-directed, well-acted, and absurdly pretty and witty the entire time.

Well I was nervous too, but that awkward moment was gone by mentioning how tall James was (I wasn't expecting that....and it made a good ice-breaker). Once things starting rolling, it felt like it was a reunion with old High School mates (especially considering I knew them from ZU when I was attending High School).

Now if any of you are planing on having an "offline meeting", make sure you're in groups (and if you're a minor) and that your parents know who you are with. I know it sounds like I'm nagging, but I'm just here to give advice for safety reasons. Yes ZU is a family friendly forum, but you can never be too careful[/paranoia]

It was really good, however me over analyzing everything got me thinking about where the story came from

Major Spoiler:
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
It honestly has a lot of references to the story of Noah's Ark and a few references about Jesus and his Apostles.

Look for the random animals: Flying Pig, Zebra, and Camel.

Aww, that's awesome. Looks like you guys had a great time. I must say I'm quite jealous. But I hope that you guys had as much fun as it looks, and I hope that we can see more and more threads like this.

I still can't believe BGS pointed out that reference. Like andi called him, he must be a literary nerd.
