ANGRY: A not-getting-the-Wii-on-launch-day-when-I-should've Story

Right, here's the deal, I was supposed to get my Wii today, and Twilight Princess along with a bunch of other games... but they weren't delivered... so I'm angry.
I know this happened to a load of people, but I'm just so annoyed. I ordered it from quite a lot of places but we had to delete the orders 'cause we (my parents) couldn't afford it. I tried to say that I'd sell the Wiis I didn't need on Ebay but we were going on holiday soon after the 8th, and we needed the cash for then. So, I spent an afternoon going through all the places we pre-ordered from. Amazon hadn't started taking orders at that point so I didn't pick them, I would of if they had started taking them, because that's were I get all my games from mostly. Same story with Play.com.
I decided on this site called Techsplosion, it was Scottish, based in Dundee, so I thought that maybe that fact that I lived in Scotland also would prehaps increse the chances of us getting one. It was not to be.
I ordered my games and everything else from Amazon however.
At the start of November I phoned Techsplosion confirming my order, and spoke to this guy called 'James'. He said that, yes, I get my Wii on the 8th of December, no problem.
I phoned again on the 1st, to check that I'd still be getting my stuff. I was talking to 'James', again. I thought this was a little weird, but put it down as no big deal. I was getting the Wii on the UK launch date, missing school for a whole month to go on the trip of a lifetime. Life was good.

Fast-forward to the morning of the 8th.

I woke up, walked the dogs, and made sure my homework had been done. Then set off for school. I talked with my friends about the Wii coming out and gloated that I would be playing it all day after school. Most of my morning was taken up with watching my class pratice for the Christmas 'musical', and giving my 'honest opinion' of what I thought: 'Good singing, loud and clear. But very few people looked happy. If they did, it would have given the preformance a huge boost'. I wasn't really that bothered, I was too busy day-dreaming about the Wii and the fact that Yassen's helicopter's number plate changes at the end of Stormbreaker (I wont explain, watch the film if you are all that interested).
Just before lunch I was violently sick in the toilets, so the school phoned my mum. She came to the school and picked me up. Before I left, I said good-bye to my friends: I told Ruth I'd get her Ozzie stamps if I found any, told Richard I'd get him a boomarang, and Ben asked me to get him a famous person's autograph if I happened to meet any (unlikely).

Then, my mum gave me some medicine and told me to watch a DVD. So I grabbed Stormbreaker (for a change(!)), and put on the extra features.
I sat there, waiting for the doorbell to ring, for the postman/woman to deliver my long-awaited Wii.
But no-one came.
Shortly after four o'clock my mum phoned bloomin' Techsplosion and yelled down the telephone asking why my stuff hadn't come. Good ol' 'James' told her that that batch had been delayed, and my Wii would be with me tommorow.
To add to my fury, an e-mail arrived from Amazon saying that my games would be delayed. After calming me down (I think I was sick again), my mum told me she'd phone WHSmith in a nearby town, and ask them if they had a spare Wii lying around. She told me (after phoning them) that they were out of Wiis, but had a copy of TP. I said that I could wait a little longer, I had waited for ages already, so one day wouldn't do me much harm.
So, my mum cancelled my games from Amazon and rung 'James' again, saying that we wanted to order TP as well. She asked me if I wanted any other games, but I said that as long as I had TP, I'd be fine.

Well, that's my day almost done. If you have 'gone through a traumatic experence' like this too, please reply.
Oh and you people, who have a Wii. Count yourself lucky.

Ah well, that's my daily moan over with, I'm gonna watch Stormbreaker again, maybe once I'm done I'll be able to recite the whole thing. That'll impress my cousins.

"Count yourself lucky"? Count your blessings, is what I have to say. If you honestly call that a "traumatic experience", then I can't wait what you'd expect the real world will be once you're out of your mom and dad's grips.

The 360 has been out for over a year, you could have had it last Christmas. Oh that's right, who's money would it take to purchase a console? Yours? Or your parents? I say let them choose, and be greatful for whatever you recieve. If you're worried about Christmas gifts, worry about what you're going to give, not what you're going to receive. This isn't the time of year to be greedy, it's the time of year to be giving. Plus, this isn't the right thread to talk about "Which should I get", it's apparently about "traumatic experiences" getting a Wii.

Good day to you two, and I hope this was a nice lesson in thinking of others for a change.
-BGS

Yeah, I explained I shall get someone (Parents) something special for christmas

Also, my friend on MSN said he had the same trouble getting a Wii, except, he never got it in the end, too bad for him

My cousin is too greedy, he gets stuff when he wants it! I need to teach him a lesson

I experienced the same thing today. At first I felt completely devastated, but I haven't quite given up yet.

All I can say is that you're definately not alone in being extremely upset about not getting a Wii and Twilight Princess.

Do you know if Europe are getting more Wii's and Twilight Princess copies before Christmas? I heard something about the 15th and 20th.

EDIT: I meant "you're definately not alone".

The Wii was released in the UK today, and even though I reserved mine, and put a deposit down in September, they still couldn't give me one, as their other branches higher up didn't have the stock come through.

They said to expect to get it after Christmas.

People fail to realise that the Wii is only a games conole, and it's not to be taken too seriously.
You didn't get your glorified videogame box. So what?
It's not the most important thing in life.

This is what I did, last X-mas I got a 360, this X-mas I saved up half the amount for a Wii, and also said it is part of my birthday, clever huh.

But it's still pretty high on the list. ^_^

I ended up buying a Wii, but then ebayed it. I ended up getting an extra $200 for it, and the wait isn't too hard. Just stay away from anything Wii-related, and you'll do just fine. ^^;

Shadowthief are you sad about it being delayed for one day? My God...

I'm not getting the Wii till' January, and I don't really care, I'll get it sometime, just not on the release date. I'll be getting TP for the gamecube next shipment, I don't know when it is though. Thanks William Zelda4ever, maybe the 15th to the 20th is the next shipment date.
And if I get TP on christmas day I won't be playing it all day. I have a family and I'd rather spend my christmas with them rather than play a game.

What the?!?
Can't you tell sarcasm when it slaps you in the face? Why do you think I used ''s?
And as for not thinking about others? How can you say that? Have you met me before? Do you have the right to say I don't think about others when you know nothing about me? All I do is think about others, I let my so called best friend treat me like dirt because I didn't want to hurt her.
Over all, 2006 hasn't been a good year for me, and the Wii would mark a new year.
And what's this about 'the real world'? I've had more of 'the real world' than you'd like to think.
The reason I was so angry about the Wii was because I worked hard for it, my parents were going to buy it for me but I said that I didn't want to just get it, I wanted to think that I had worked for it. And I did.
At the start of October, my mum help me look for a realiable company to purchase a Wii from, and Techsplosion guaranteed I'd get the Wii on the 8th. We, oh no, sorry, I paid an extra £70 to make sure it would arrive on the day.
I've already spent over £300 buying gifts for my family, the Wii was the only thing I am getting. And even then, I wouldn't keep it to myself, the reason I wanted it was so I could share it with my friends and family.

And good day to you BGS, I hope this was a nice lesson in thinking before you speak.

A mod may lock this. I am worried this could turn into a rather aggressive flaming match of sorts.

Of course it will turn into a flame match, by the way you reacted in your last post. You nearly, excuse me, you DID bite BGS' head off. I am sorry, but the way you came across in the first post, you did sound a little whiny and greedy. So BGS reacted how he interpreted your post.

How about you think before you speak. Instead of being hateful, how about responding with a:
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come across as a whiny little kid. What I meant was that I was frustrated that something I wanted didn't show up today."
That way you don't come off as a jerk.

Posting your feelings on the internet is different than speaking. It is harder to tell exactly when someone is being sarcastic and when someone is being truthful Think about that before you post, too. And for all you know, BGS could be being sarcastic as well.

Good day to you Sir.

Guess you are right, Mark.
To solve this problem, I shall not cast my eyes over this thread of mine again.
I often fly off the handle, in a way that I... shouldn't. I need to stop doing that.
However, I will try my best to defuse the situation and as I said, not look at this thread of mine.
I guess I did sound like a whiny kid there, then a jerk..... no, I wont go into it.
Let's just say I can get my feelings across better face-to-face than post-to-post.

A final good day.

Re: ANGRY: A not-getting-the-Wii-on-launch-day-when-I-should've Story

Me and my brother's Wiis came through today. I'm getting them on Christmas, but I did get to salivate over the box. I think I am very lucky I got a Wii. It said on BBC news that it would be very hard to get one today, and impossible to get one Saturday, the day after launch! They gave out loads to the UK, and STILL ran out...
I'm very sorry you've had bad experiences so far. It's not fair that many people don't get their Wiis, so I hope you get it soon... although I think it's going to be very hard now...
