Would you sacrifice?

If you were the only person able to be expeirmented on, to save billions of people that you dont know , because you have a rare special gene .The experiment has 100% chance of sucess.
Of course the experiments are fatal and painful. Would you do it?

Simply put: Would you give your life for 6 billion people you don't know?

I woudn't

As macho as I pretend to be, I could not. I couldn't even ask anyone to have to do something like that. A million, or even a billion lives, isn't worth it if it comes with the price of death. Even one person.

Some people like to be macho, but it would be different if it were you.

I would probably do it. If some scientists garunteed that it would work, and there was no other way, I'd say yes. How can you not? If there was some kind of disease, and the only cue lied withing me, then I'd say go ahead and save a million people.

I guess that's what people in the military go through every day. Marching into the warzone so we don't have to live in fear.

Of course I would. It may be painful, but if it saves that many lives for the price of just one, then go for it. I'd swallow my pride and sacrifice myself.

If it were to saved my loved ones, of course. I would sacrifice myself for the lives of others. It would just depend on what and what the side-effects are...including death. Now, i'd feel happy knowing I did this, but it'll be hard to get me into the laboratory.

Sure I would be rather frightened, but yes, I most DEFINATELY WOULD if it were my choice. I would choose not for someone else to die for me, but I would die for them.

To tell you all the truth, I really don't know. I probably would if there the results were certain to work.If it caused alot of pain but i still lived, i definately would

Wait, so, I'm expected to be painfully tortured and killed because of something that I couldn't help so that a bunch of people I don't know might be cured? Hell no.

However, if I were asked to give my life to save another, and I knew that it would without a doubt be successful, then yeah. But you don't agree to die so that something might happen. That's not selfless, that's suicidal.

There is a selfish part of me that says never. Then there is another selfish part of me that says I would if I would be remembered as somebody who saved others. And there is that huge part of me that wants to be noble and certainly do it. Since that's the dominant part of me, I'd say I would. Of course, I'd figured I hesitate(I'm not one to jump into things like that) but wind up doing it anyway. Maybe I have to look at it a different way at times. For the most part, I consider my life up to this point unhappy. Perhaps if I had some happy experiences, I might be more unwilling to give up my life. Of course, I'm not here to whine or be angsty about life anyways. Although I'm convinced that there are people who are evil(not inherently, but as a result of things)-- there are good people out there worth saving.

Good things have come from wars. This one, maybe not so much. But you can't say all wars are pointless. Soldiers have kept kingdoms from crumbling, and America wouldn't be here if men hadn't fought for us.

Not true, it might have taken many lifes to win the War Worlds but was it not worth it. Each of those life, I mean through each of those lifes we were able to win. Would you rather that the Allies had lost that war or won it?

In the U.S.A. soldiers giving their lives for others seperated us from Great Britain, and in the Civil War, the Union won, so there is no slavery right now and never will be. (At least I hope.) I also wouldn't want to be living in "The Conferderate States of America". Doesn't sound right, WW1 and WW2 people sacrificed their lives for people they don't know. Its possible, that from a soldiers actions, your life was saved from a bombing, plane hacking etc. Well maybe not a plane hijack, but you get the point.

You see, if nobody had armies, then no one would need any. But the human race is so destructive and hostile that we insist on protecting ourselves, and, in the process, cause others to become threats to us.

Though, I'm straying from the topic. Sowwies.

I might or I might not.. It depends on how I feel up untill then.. I most likely would, but then again I'm not so sure. This topic makes me a little upset...

I would deffinitly. If it only takes one life to save billions, that life would not be worthless. Neither would that sacrafice because you let young children who have yet to see the world, live another day . . . . . .
