Re: What exactly is this?

No, your English teachers did not lie to you, but when RPing, we prefer to stick to one tense so we don't confuse people. We add variety other ways... Like with enticing adverbs and adjectives. :]

I see, I see, but still he should say present and past not 2nd person, i thought a BA Council member should know the difference, but maybe not.

Re: What exactly is this?

In the examples that Power Shot gave, both are third person. One is past tense, and the other is present tense. Second person would be along the lines of, "You walk slowly into the dungeon, and are confronted by a monster."

You are, thus, correct.

Re: What exactly is this?

You can't write in second person. Well, I guess you could, but it'd sound weird.

Example: "You're walking in a bush. Then you see the tall trees above you."

Am I right? It seems like it. It's good for small breaks in first person but I'd probably throw up reading an entire book in second person.

Re: What exactly is this?

My junior AP English teacher told us that second person view is basically like those weird "Choose Your Own Adventure" books. It was a good way to remembered how it works eventually. It's stuck with me for, like, four years, so I guess it worked.

...I wouldn't recommend writing in second person view very much though. Unless you're into that kinda thing.

By the way, your first post looks really odd. I thought there was something wrong with my computer when I saw it.

Yeah, definitely. I have read R.L. Stine books in third grade that were like that. I even had a Mario book that was like that. They were fun actually at the time. Now? It'd probably just be annoying to me.
