Let's talk about possible innovations and stuff that may happen in the future. I'll list some of the ideas that I've come up with, and you can respond with your ideas for possible inventions and stuff in the future. They can be good or bad, possible and probable, you know. As long as they are futuristic innovations...
A. In the future, the human mind will become inefficient. When the baby is still an embryo, the developing brain will be stripped of the embryo, and a highly-advanced artificial intelligent super computer will be put in it's place. Therefore, in the future, you won't struggle to remember something. "Hey, remember that time when we all got drunk at that party?" asks Joe. "No, I can't seem to find it anywhere within my memory files. Either it never happened, or I deleted that file by mistake." says Bob. That is what a conversation about college memories will be like... IN THE FUTURE! B. In the future, there will be a second internet. The old one just won't do... A new one for completely educational reasons will be developed. So, in the future, all you have to do to be able to learn a new skill or whatever is to stick a long, metal tube in to the openening in the back of your head and download whatever files you need. Like in the Matrix. In other words, a kid can be lazy and not go to school until he reaches the age of 18. Then, he downloads all the information he needs for his career, and it's off to work! The world of labor will come as a shock to these young adults... IN THE FUTURE! C. The original Internet will not be dead, even though a new one was formed. The Old School Internet will exist as it is now- A place for communication and entertainment. However, it will be massively upgraded! The Internet will be free- No more paying for providers! Now, all human minds are automatically linked to the Internet. You will be able to go inside a virtual reality, and surfing the web will be like taking a walk in the park. Bored at work? Daydream by heading off in to your own personal 'You' website. This will be where all your imagination and ideas take place. Also, people can come along and view information you put up in your website. They can post comments and become your friends. This will be the future version of Myspace. However, the downside to this is that computer viruses will still exist. If a virus is downloaded on to your brain, you will automatically become a mindless slave to the person who originally created the virus. This will be the ultimate military tactic! Also, if adware gets in your brain, your dreams will be filled with pop-up adds. So, the Internet will be a super-upgraded version of what it is today, only that, if you damage your computer, you won't be damaging your computer, you will be damaging your brain. So, not all is fine and dandy... IN THE FUTURE! Now, let's see what futuristic innovations might be possible (Or, at least, seeming possible) in the future. Let's all gaze in to the crystal ball of time, and see what inventions await us. |

Re: In the Future...
Though hypothetical, possible innovation A is not feasible for the fact that no matter how advanced Super Computer A.I can be, in order to replace a mind, a system must always adapt and change. Unless we can give that A.I unlimited amount of memory space to remember, change, and reflect upon (which is almost impossible), this will never happen. Why do you think that we tend to forget things from a long time ago? It is not because we are weak and dumb. No. It is because there's no such thing as "remembering everything forever and ever". Our brains just don't have the required space for such thing. And to forget is to adapt and to remember new things. It's how we "learn".
Possible innovation C may be possible in the future, for the cyberspace is becoming more and more influencial and essential in our daily lives. Unless corporations merge as one, we probably won't see this type of Internet (free that is) any time soon. One possible innovation is the creation or the development of new physic laws, of which engineering fields would be greatly advanced and produce more new products based on new and pre-existing laws of theories.

Quote:
I predict that in the future, architecture could change the way we live dramatically. Right now, many architects around the world are developing taller and taller skyscrapers and it won't be long before they pass the 1-mile mark. Whole communities could fit inside these super-tall buildings and if many of those that live in the suburbs now start living in the downtown district of the city, then these new skyscrapers would be perfect and generate lots of business.

Re: In the Future...
My biggest hope is that in the future there will be a cure for cancer. Scientists say that in the future when I'm about 40, which im 15 now that there will be a cure for cancer. I seriously hope this happens since about 8 million people a year die from this disease. This, in my opinion will hopefully be a great leap in medical history.

Re: In the Future...
I hope that future technology doesn't get so advanced that we become mindless bums sitting down on virtual chairs and using our minds to do everything while we lazily get fat. It's ridiculous.
I'm in favor of going back to some old ways, when everything was simple. No new internet. No cloning, none of that stuff. Although, if they could find a way to govern countries without money being such an issue, with technology, then that would be great. So far what I'm seeing is the world getting worse and worse. Or, such cures for all these diseases will bring a lot of chaos, if you think of the consequences. Although sad, disease is some of what keeps the population of the world in check, and if we cured everything, then we'd become even more overpopulated than present. |

Re: In the Future...
I doubt we'll need to worry about that. Though inhumane and possibly will go down in chaos, the "One Child" rule in China may just be used globally if such day comes.

Re: In the Future...
Living on different planets. Imagine being able to get on a shuttle from Earth that takes you to a transport dock in space where you can board a craft that can take you to say Pluto for a holiday or to take you to work or your home on Neptune or a distant, yet undiscovered planet within a couple of days/months traveling. That would be cool.
