International Talk Like A Pirate Day!

Just to inform you all, Sept. 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day! Dressing up is optional, but if you are so inclined, talk like a pirate!

If any of you have heard of this holiday, feel free topost your experiences with it .

You're weird. Nah, just kidding, but I have never heard of anything like this.

I think I remember reading about this somewhere... Whether or not I'll actually talk like a pirate, I have yet to decide. I highly doubt I'll be dressing up though.

There is a day like this? Get out, jeez who woulda thought that there was a day like this. Well I really don't think that I will anyway but that's cool.

I must say, people come up with the strangest holidays...

Or in this case, the most awesomest holidays. I remembered I talked like a pirate last year, arrr, it was a treasure trove of fun, matey. Some people were annoyed by it, but can't they see the awesome that it is?

sept 19 is during our homecoming week at school and everyones supposed to dress up like a pirate. I guess our school knew about it

That's really weird, my mom bought me a pirate shirt for no reason and I was wondering, "when the hell will I wear a pirate shirt?" But now I understand, I must participate for some higher power obviously played a part in this.

When I first heard about it from an anonymous Internet person a couple of years ago, I thought it was a joke. I guess that's everyone's initial reaction.

Anyway, I never really talk like a pirate, because I live in Finland. I really don't know how you're supposed to talk like a pirate in Finnish. But if I happen to post something on a message board on September 19th, I usually do some of it in a pirate accent. It's a fun holiday, I just don't have much of a chance to participate.

You know what we really need, though? An Official Engrish Day. The day when everyone only speaks in Engrish for no reason at all. I'm sure it'd be fun and give all those Ninja fans something to celebrate as well. :P

Arr, I'll be talkin' like a Pirate tomorrow. It be me favourite religious holiday. I've been puttin' great effort in teachin' the lubbers at school that it be ITLAPD soon, though I'm doubtful that any of them will be participatin'. It be worth trying though, ARR!

Ye just add "Arr" to a few sentences, refer to people with whatever the Finnish word for "Matey" or "Scurvy Landlubber" be, an' just generally talk about booty, plunderin', keelhaulin', drinkin', fightin', an' other such things. Or do as I be doin', an' talk in English for the whole day. ARR!

(do people really stick to this day? I mean ... would people you meet in school or around in streets etc be speaking pirate on the day? or is it mostly an internet phenomenon? )
