Move Move Arm!, Bionic limbs on test for disabled vets

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14790160/

I remember reading about a test with a chimp some 4 years ago. Now they have an old man using the artifical bonic limbs to do painting and all that stuff, just by commanding the limb with thought. Next step is to provide them for the vets who lost limbs in service but I bet it'll also go for people who lost limbs in accidents.

Re: Move Move Arm!, Bionic limbs on test for disabled vets

Yeah, I read this same article, yesterday. (it's "bionic" btw, hehe).

I think it's awesome that we've come this far! There were previously very lifelike (but super super super expensive to make..like C3PO arms) bionic limbs which could be connected from the upper arm, but now people who have lost their arm(s) at the shoulder(s) can have a working prosthesis!!

Amazing, I say!! And glory to God :0)

I only hope that they don't become something for the rich, only...like most of today's medical breakthroughs which bring hope seem to be. It is, afterall, the poor who need working limbs more than anyone. Their livelihood depends on the ability to do things physically. That is the one thing I don't like about capitalism..the little guy doesn't get the expensive help usually. Of course, withOUT capitalism, it is very unlikely that inventions of this sort would be created at all.

But that's another topic entirely ;0)
