Biiiiiiiiiig winds!!!

My God it's outta control here in Buffalo and all around Lake Erie. The winds may not seem as bad as it to those who have hurricanes in their areas, but we're not used to that!! We've got 60 mile per hour winds here, thousands are without power, schools are closed everywhere, services are closed, transporation is dead and it is to get only worse. My school is open, but because my bus-district is closed, I wouldn't be able to get home, so I stayed home today.

I swear the trees by my house seem like they're ready to colapse, they're flailing around like a fish outta water!! I'm so glad I'm home though, because it's terrible out, and it's cold too. I had to go outside before because something blew off my porch. I took off my socks, and burned through my backward to thing. I would've had to wiat outside down my street for my bus too, and that would've been unbearable.

Well, me and my big bro are safe, got my mutt too, so I'm all good!! I'll keep this updated though when more news occurs.....

60 mph winds? ...that's pretty fast. That's enough to pick up and toss little people.

I haven't had a hurricane hit in a while. Amazing, considering I'm in the Tampa Bay area.

I didn't have any trouble walking or anything like that, but the wind was really annoying, coupled with a bit of snow. I doubt it'll last though. It's not cold enough.

I live in Mississauga and yes the wind is crazy here! A small tree got nocked over with me and my friends right under it. Thankfully no one was hurt, its also damn cold outside so rightnow I'm sitting at the computer with soup and a blanket. ^_^

Damn...we never have severe winds in the Uk. Which is not bad. Soo were safe. Thats a good idea staying home. Most transports would fall over and collapse and kill lots i think! Hang in there Mirren!

Yeh i live in hamilton the city that must have it all (its true:p) not too far from Toronto so i also got 100 km/h winds with some snow...its freaking cold as well especially if yuore up on the Niagara Escarpment...aww man the forest in front of my house is gonna turn into a dump with all these trees on the ground...oh well.

I had a field trip today. Well, for some odd reason I wore long sleeves, even though they were really thin. I didn't bring a jacket because I thought I wouldn't need one....

Boy was I wrong...IT WAS FREEZING! I had to stand outside for fours hours with the wind blowing constantly. When I finally got home I could barley feel my hands, legs, or feet. My fingers are still numb...and I have been home for a whole hour! *shivers*

I always keep a jacket in my locker now....

yeah I noticed there was a very Low pressure system in the Northeast earlier...

coupled with that strong High pressure out in the Plains and you get a very strong pressure gradient...

very strong pressure gradient = very high winds around Low pressure...

ah, we had the same problem around here, though it wasn't NEARLY as bad as it was for you. everybody was really cold, some of the news traffic cameras broke, and a window in the John Hancock building shattered, but that's pretty much it.

i've been around nothing but weather maps and computer forcasts and synoptic readouts all semester....so it's weather, weather. weather....but that's what I wanna do...

anyways...the wind has picked up down South too...

a cold front went through last night and an uppder level ridge is supposed to drop temps. pretty low for us tonite...we may even get a freeze Friday in Mississippi!!

it's getting pretty cold outside right now...it was 90F Tuesday...o_O

god its cold! I just finished doing the papers and MAN! am I freezing, I can't feel my finers my feewt are freezing, I'm in the basement, the heater isn't working and the small window won't close! *jumps up and down to use up energy and warm self up*

Not to worry!! I'm safe within my house and on my computer!! It started snowing like heck before, but stopped along with the wind. But that's come back now.....big time.....

I hope my bus company is closed again tomorrow, then I won't be able to go to school like I did today ^_^
