This sucks.............

Ok, so what I'm mad about, is the government has taken my one favorite pass time................Skateboarding. It is now illegal to do it in my city, well at leaste that's what some cops told this kid I know that was HOLDING his skateboard. If it is well, like I said it sucks, the closes park is like a hour away and I can't be going there everytime I feel like skating XD

The meaning of this there I really don't know maybe thoughts on things that have made you mad or thoughts on my anger about what has happend. Mods if you don't like the name go ahead and change it.

why would skateboarding be illegal? i don't see any harm in that. they should make usefull law's

Maybe you should try to find the govt skateboarding, and get him arrested.

What a retarted law o_O I dont see how skateboards are dangerous. Yeah, sure you can hurt yourself by falling while riding, but thats your fault.

In what city you live? If its New York dont bother reading this, well the point is you can maybe send a letter to major asking him "Why Mr. Major, why you did that? I thought we were friends!" have you think about this maybe the cop lyed to your friend so he will not skateboard anymore.

Skateboarding doesn;t really entertain me, but it does some i share no intrest but for people who like it, it's the most ridiculous law ever. It;s encouraging no sports and so on! So rebel for that because it might get you somewhere!

Well, see I live in Independence, MO, (literaly KC though) and some of the skaters around here like to use wax on stairs and gind on rails, that's what ticks the gove off, I have been thinking about writing or calling to see if it is true.

I can understand their reasoning. When I'm walking along the sidewalks of Concord, I don't want a bunch of maniac skateboarders all over the place.

I think that is stupid, grown-up's are really stupid. You could probably sneak it, I wouldn't tell anyone.

Well, if people are waxing things I can see why that would tick the authorities off. And yes, skateboarding can be dangerous. My dad's best friend was killed while he was skatebording. But that is a stupid law...

I too understand their reasoning. Having kid ride past on skateboards on the curb. we encourage kids like that to immigrate

Oh man, I so sorry to hear that.

As for the Skaters running people over on sidewalks it's not that bad here, but if the gove' want to get ride of this problem they shouldn't bane skateboarding completly, they should give us a freakin skate park that's closer.

Hrmm, I understand both sides. On one hand, people don't want other people being hurt on town property and suing. Also, think, to whom does public property belong? To everyone. Does skateboarding skuff up railings, or do anything (even in the least bit) harmful? Third, skateboarding isn't the safest sport (nor is it the most dangerous), and couple it with that kid you know who likes showing off, "grown-ups" have heart attacks over these scenarios (even if cocky skaters are in the far minority).

On the other hand, if the town wants to ban skateboarding, they should allow a viable alternative in which for you to do it. You could do it legally for long enough. Now you have gotten better at it. And skate parks are at an unreasonable distance? There should be a fairly easy to access place where you can, if they want to suddenly ban it.

And lastly, never go solely on the word of one person. Maybe this guy just has a penchant for annoying kids, that or he resents that his own kid is a "skater". Look up what your town has passed, and confirm it for yourself. While you are at it, you'll learn alot about your town and how it works.

EDIT: Can they legally take away skateboards as a mode of transportation? Seriously, whats next, bikes cause you can do tricks with them? Then scooters.
