Im asking all members this question. How long do you think man-kind has left to live? What year do you think we will go extinct?

The mayans predicted the world and all life to cease to exist in the year 2012. So yea, I'm waiten...true, be or not...I guess we have to wait.

This thread does have potential, but I think the opening post needs to have a bit more backing behind it. I mean, you just want people to throw out numbers? Or, do you want us to back up our ideas with reasons behind them? I'm interested, for instance, to know why you think mankind will...expire...in 2506.

Maybe 100 more years or so because of global warming, unless the human race pulls their act together. But no, we think we're invincible and therefore aren't doing anything to resolve this problem...

Meh, End-of-World paranoia has been around forever. I don't really like to worry about it too much. It's hard, though, with the media spewing all this Bird flu/Global Warming/nuclear war stuff constantly :/ As if we don't have enough to worry about.

I think we're killing ourselves, that's for sure. and with so much technology and how it's advancing, I'm sure that we could poof any time now. But we won't. Why think of it anyway? It's such a horrid thought. Hm, I wonder when we're all gonna die??

Unless the next generation can fix this generations mistakes it will be soon.

Depends if Global warming takes affect soon or not. It also depends when the apocolapse will happen also. I say maybe about 50 more years in my opinon. Beware the anti-christ was born in the year 2000, due to that one theory long ago.

You know, our efforts against pollution and global warning are actually paying off a bit. This generation is starting to pull it's act together, and I'm glad for that.

Everytime someone thinks the world is going to end, I don't believe it, yet I get really paranoid. I just want to go to college, get married, and have kids! I don't want them to grow up in a world that's ending! V_V

I do not beleive we have a set amount of time to put our act together. We humans can control our own destinies, weather they be our own, or our species. If Mankind is to go on, each generation must learn from the mistakes of the one before it. To quote a wise video game character (Raine Sage from Tales of Symphonia) "Months, years. Over time, change is inevitable."

I think that if an apocalypse doesn't happen, humanity will still end. We'll eventually (and probably through our own actions) be no longer human. Like those aliens from the Space Odyssey series

I've heard a theory about Global Warming that states that the Earth has it's own self-rectifying failsafe of overcoming Global Warming. I think it has something to do with a thicker atmosphere making the Earth colder, then freezing the ice-caps again, or something.

Also, does ice displace the same mass as water? If it does, the melting ice-caps won't affect sea levels at all.

I don't think anyone can really predict when the world will end due to global warming or whatever. Thousands or millions of years from now, if the world hasn't ended due to that stuff (that stuff - ), the sun will expand and swallow the earth. Then we're all doomed. I believe that's apocalypse time!

The world will expire in 2012? Wth? We can't all die so quickly, we haven't even reached intergalactic space travel yet.

Ice is solid and more compact... also its colder so the molicules are less active and spred apart..... on top of that, much (although not most) of the ice is above sealevel.

It does, infact have a failsafe (from what Ive heard), but we're also doing so much damage that this cant reverse what we're doing. Polutents actually deplete the atmosphere, causing it to thin out, btw.

Lol. I know we won't but I'd hate to see the world die when flying cars and all that good stuff you see on Tv isn't happening yet. 2012 seems too quick for the world to just end anyway. I bet my life savings that nothing catastrophic will happen on that date.

Eh, I don't have a precise (sp?) guess on when man-kind will cease to live, but I hope it will be someday, not to far from now. Humans have done nothing (hardly) good for this planet. Poor planet...
