Melbourne Cup day

The best horse race in the world, the race that stops the nation is today. I have put a dollar on Holy Orders, because of the cantankerous nature during the track work and how henry the pony, travelling compainion of Jardine's lookout, was able to straighten him out. Who do you think will take out the cup? Should we bring back the hurdle race to the day, to get the kids intreastded in it again as Roy and H.G. suggested last night. Is Kenny Calendar, the television odds man, a b*****d for suggesting that you shouldn't put your money on the horse with the longest odds. Do you belief Canadain Rugby palyer Ken Knags is Qualified to give tips on horse racing because of his name?

P.S. Here's to the greatest horse ever, phar lap, who was murdered before he could kick arse in america.

Re: Melbourne Cup day

Well he died under mysterious circumstances. Most people believe he was posioned by the trainer of on of his main rivals.

The first Melbourne cup was raced in 1861, The first Winner, a horse named Archer, rode 850 kilometres(560 miles) from Norwa to Flemington in Melbourne, where the race is held. Archer also won the seconded Melbourne cup.

Ooo... Melbourne Cup Day! Yay! At about 2:30 all of us here at our office are going to go to our local pub to watch it. Although I still wouldn't have a clue which horse to back.

Re: Melbourne Cup day

O_o... I didn't know that.

Well, my sister called this morning and said she is backing Mamool... and it seems that many people have been putting their money on Holy Orders, as the odds dramatically decreased last night because tonnes of people were backing it.

Re: Melbourne Cup day

That's interesting. The reason for the scratching is that Mummify had a temperature this morning and the leg that the jockey said didn't feel right still didn't. Well that brings to an end to controversy (sp?) about the jokey not giving his all in that other race while on mummify.

Re: Melbourne Cup day

Urgh, the race started when I left school, and ended as soon as I got home -_-

I'm happy with betting once last year and winning. ($25!)

Re: Melbourne Cup day

Since anyone hasn't said, the winning horse was MAKYBE DIVA.

... unfortuantly not the one I tipped, although it doesn't matter that much because I wasn't putting any money on it.

Re: Melbourne Cup day

*re-reads*

Oh, sorry about that.
The Melbourne Cup doesn't seem half as big a deal in high school as it did in primary school.
I remember when all classes would stop just to turn on the TV to see who wins. Meh, ignorance is bliss.

Re: Melbourne Cup day

Right I'm going to buy a thirty dollar horse in the hopes of having it in next years melbourne cup. The Owners of The bold bard are such an inspiration and with John Eales DIY Horse segment on the cream at the carnival I believe I shall be able to do it for a minimum cost.
