Extend summer vacation?

If you could would you drop week end breaks and vacations to extend summer this includes every day except christmas day , thanksgiving,Martin L.K. day, Labor day, ect.

By the way this makes summer vacation over 170 days long. So what do you think

No. Its nice to have frequent breaks from school. Period.

That would be like taking all of your medication at once instead of spacing it. If school extended thorugh the weekends, I would puke. Just think about it. Straight, run-on school for half a year. Buisnesses would close becuase of that.

Personally, I would go crazy

I like having the occasional breaks. It's nice, you get to enjoy every season, not just evil hot summer (grrr).

No, weekends, or breaks during the week are definantly needed, there's a reason behind the weekend ya know.

and besides, my summer is already long enough (may 15th-sept 1st)

They already did extend my summer vacation, goes in effect next summer. No other breaks were compromised also. School also start later but it goes until 3:00 now. About an hour later. It's not that bad. I'd rather have a longer summer vacation and one extra hour of school isn't horrible.

Well, I'm already finshed with school(not counting College) but theres no way I would give up weekend breaks, or any of that stuff. Just straight school would drive me crazy.

I can't stand how long summer break is now. If it was up to me, I would get my county to go to school all year long, having one or two weeks off here and there.

My county did something stupid last year. The parents voted for us to have a longer summer, so they started school the very last week of August. All the kids hate it. They cut our Christmas break down by a week, and since the AP tests are in May, we sit in school a whole month doing nothing but busy work. When school first started, I think we went almost two months without one day off. That lead to many problems at our school with kids.

I'd rather lose the summer entirely to get more breaks during the school year, and a longer Christmas break. I would've very much disliked what your county did, Ryoko, since the Christmas break is my favourite holiday.

Uh, no. Not ever. Summer is quite long as it is -- which I find no problem with -- and if it were longer, I would die. I'd actually like to have anywhere from two weeks to an entire month taken out of summer and dispersed between winter and spring break. Maybe another random week or two off sometime else, too. But no, school straight for a half year would make my brain explode. It would SUCK beyond reason.

My opinion has already been stated. It would be too tiring to do school straight through half a year. And besides, since when do the guys in Congress remember how tough school is?

No. I think summer vacation should be shorter and all of our holidays should be taken off the calendar. You're crazy.

Meh. I kinda need breaks from school every once in a while. One, non-stop school would drive me to hang myself. I think those breaks should stay. I think it's fine as it is, I don't know why people insist on changing it. o-o

I think two months of is sufficient, and plus, I don't think that would equal into much more of an extension... It's nice to have it all spread out instead of having it all at one time. I don't think I could manage with 9 months of straight school, 5 days a week.

With the extention we got this year, which goes into effect next summer, I'm going to get three months but the same amount of breaks and such. They're just adding an hour to our school day. I'm not sure how that adds up but somehow it does.

That's strange... but that I would be okay with. Here, the teachers are having a strike next September, so that might cut into our summer holidays for next year. Although, they did strike this (last) year for two weeks until they were forced to come back, and our holidays stayed the same.

Why are they striking, if I may ask. What problem is the Teacher Union have?
